Dutch Arrest Navy Officers on Drugs Charges!

AMSTERDAM Police said Friday they had arrested an officer and a former officer of the Dutch Royal Marine Corps on suspicion of smuggling cocaine and other drugs via Amsterdam to Britain. 
A string of raids on addresses in various towns around Amsterdam and in the Dutch Caribbean had resulted in nine arrests including the two navy men, police said. "From late 1997 onwards they are suspected of having been engaged in importing packages of cocaine by parcel post via Schiphol Airport (in Amsterdam) and exporting it to Britain," a police statement said. It added the nine, arrested between Tuesday and Friday, were also charged with sending drugs couriers from the Dutch Antilles and Aruba to the Netherlands. A spokesman for the public prosecutor's office said that to date police had found 397 pounds of cocaine and several smaller quantities of other drugs at various locations. He said the investigation, started eight months ago in close cooperation with British and Belgian authorities, could lead to further arrests. http://www.cnn.com/Reuters
