Roger Clinton, the half brother of former president Bill Clinton, was arrested early Saturday morning in a beach community near Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said. The Hermosa Beach Police Department said an officer on routine patrol noticed a sport utility vehicle being driven erratically, followed the vehicle and saw several violations, such as failure to use turn signals, and pulled the car over. The driver was identified as Roger Clinton, 44, of Torrance.
He failed a series of balance and coordination tests and was taken to the city jail, the police department said. In a release, Hermosa officials said Clinton's blood alcohol level met the threshold for the presumption that he was driving under the influence and he was booked.Clinton was released later Saturday morning on his own recognizance. He is cited to appear in court April 2.As one of his final acts as president, Bill Clinton last month pardoned his younger half brother, a musician, who served a year in jail after pleading guilty to a 1985 charge of conspiracy to distribute a single gram of cocaine.Bill Clinton later described the drug prosecution as "the best thing that ever happened" to his brother.Source: Washington Post (DC) Published: Monday, February 19, 2001; Page A02 Address: 1150 15th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20071Copyright: 2001 The Washington Post Company Contact: letterstoed washpost.comWebsite: Related Article:More Federal Prisoners Jailed Under Clinton
