Posted by FoM on December 20, 1998 at 14:41:55 PT The Alameda County Sheriff's Office says deputies have seized $500,000 worth of marijuana and arrested a 32-year-old Castro Valley man who was allegedly growing 870 plants in his home. A spokesman said Alameda County firefighters discovered the plants at 20881 Manter Road at about 11:35 Friday morning. With a search warrant, deputies also found 11 pounds of dried marijuana and several thousand dollars in Korean and U.S. currency. He said the home's electrical wiring bypassed an electrical meter apparently to hide the high usage of electricity required for growing the plants. Kenny Su Kim is to be arraigned on Monday in Superior Court in Hayward on charges of growing marijuana and possession for sale.
