Senate Gives Preliminary Approval to Industrial Hemp Bill!St. Paul, Minnesota A bill to allow farmers to grow industrial hemp now has preliminary approval from the Minnesota Senate. 
Hemp growers would be required to register with the state and federal government. The bill also would require them to name the people to whom they sold the crop. Minneesota's Senate Majority Leader Roger Moe sponsors the bill. He says it would would help farmers diversify. Moe says the market for hemp is huge. He says hemp is used in products from fertilizer to car dashboards. The Legislature passed a similar hemp bill last year, but then-Governor Arne Carlson vetoed it. Governor Jesse Ventura has said he supports industrial hemp growing. Hemp looks like marijuana but lacks marijuana's high. Critics say police would not be able to tell the hemp from the marijuana as they grew. http://www.cnn.com/
