Anne Arundel County police confiscated more than 400 pounds of marijuana they found in a delivery truck after receiving a tip from law enforcement officials in Montgomery County, officials said yesterday. The seizure earlier this month was the largest in county history, police said.
Police searched the Copy and Parcel Co. in Millersville on Feb. 8 after receiving a tip from a task force of federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents and Prince George's and Montgomery county police.Anne Arundel police found nothing, but as they were leaving the establishment, they saw a Roadway Express truck pull up, police said yesterday. Police said that they were granted permission to search the truck and that a drug-sniffing dog "alerted" on eight packages.Police opened the packages and found marijuana, which was wrapped in dryer fabric softener sheets and then in cellophane in an apparent effort to throw drug-sniffing dogs off the scent. The marijuana weighed 426 1/2 pounds, and police estimated its street value at $1,910,720.
