PETERSBURG,Transport police from the city's northwestern department have arrested four drug traffickers, seizing from them some 100 grams of Heroin and 1.7 kilograms of Marijuana. The arrests, made on Wednesday, were part of a larger operation to combat crime in the area. The heroin was found in possession of two residents from the northern city of Murmansk, the press service of the northwestern traffic police department told Itar-Tass on Thursday. The 1.7 kg of marijuana were seized from an unemployed resident at the railway station in the town of Kondopoga. Police who search his home also found 24 plastic bags apparently kept for packaging. A criminal investigation was launched in both cases. Medicines containing narcotics were among "the catch" by the transport police on Wednesday. An agent aided by a sniffer dog, searched a man on a train Kiev-St.Petersburg who had 993 packs of ortopheni, worth 12,000 roubles.
