Montana NORML will present a new documentary on the history and effects of hemp and marijuana prohibition at the Wilma Theater in downtown Missoula on Tuesday, November 16th. Several showings of the one hour documentary will be held, starting at 5:00 PM.
Titled "Emperor of Hemp", the piece highlights the important work of Jack Herer, author of the internationally published underground hit, "The Emperor Wears No Clothes". Called "a triumph for the open minded" by Bill Maher of Politically Incorrect, Emperor of Hemp examines the rich history of human uses of cannabis dating back to Biblical times and follows it up through its relatively recent prohibition. Also covered are the medical marijuana debate and the excesses and lunacy of the "War on Drugs", which, it is pointed out, consists largely of a war on otherwise law-abiding adults who happen to use marijuana. In the spring of 1999, the Montana House of Representatives approved a resolution endorsing the cultivation of industrial hemp in Montana, a goal that is nevertheless stymied by the federal prohibition of marijuana. Copies of the documentary and other literature will be available, and beer and wine will be served. Scheduled shows start at 5:10 and the last show is at 10 PM. Admission $3.00. Absolutely Wonderful Video!
The Emperor of Hemp is awesome! I have the video and I have watched it with every friend that walks thru our doors. After we watch the tape we talk and talk and talk. None of our friends are on the Internet so the tape literally blows them away! It is one of those movies that makes you want to shout! Yes! That's Right over and over again! Everyone should see this video and it should be available in libraries that carry videos too, in my opinion!

"Truth - the Anti-Bull"
I'm sure some of you will quickly recognize the not-so-subtle mockery of McCzar's website. Although I have not seen the film, myself, I fully intend to when it arrives in my area. But it can't be overemphasized; get your friends, get aquaintances, get as many as you can to see this. Because the more who do see it, the greater the percentage of people will become politically active. A 'voice in the wilderness' (that MMJ is right now) can easily be ignored without cost by the Powers that Be. A marginalized minority always is... in the beginning. But in every group of normally politically inactive people there are a few in whom the spark of decency has not been smothered, and they will become politically active when faced with the awful cost of continuing to do nothing. The more who see this film, the more will become active. The more who become active, the more desperate and histrionic MISTER McCaffrey and his brethren will and the more the ONDCP will have to insult people's intelligence with their back-village propaganda methods and name calling. Until finally, they will have reached Lincoln's Limit, i.e. they can't fool all of the people all of the time. I'd hate to work for the so-called "Justice Department" then; the number of lawsuits brought against it by harmless pot smokers whose lives have been ruined by the insanity of cannabis prohibition will probably be the biggest story of the early 21st Century. I can hardly wait. :)
