cannabisnews.com: Guard Pleads Guilty in Final Case - FBI Drug Sting Guard Pleads Guilty in Final Case - FBI Drug Sting Posted by FoM on December 09, 1998 at 14:02:24 PT Is there any honesty left in this WODs! A private security guard yesterday became the 53rd and final person to plead guilty to a drug conspiracy charge stemming from an FBI sting operation that netted dozens of area law officers. James Richardson, 40, of Cleveland, admitted protecting what turned out to be a phony cocaine deal staged by undercover agents. Under the terms of a plea agreement, he is expected to be sentenced to 30 months in prison. The corruption investigation, which became public with arrests in January, resulted in the convictions of 44 current or former law officers and nine others like Richardson, who authorities said represented himself as a Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority officer even though he was not a law officer.Richardson and former Cleveland schools security guard Rodney W. Platts were not arrested until September because FBI agents initially had been unable to identify them from secretly recorded videotapes. Richardson's sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 11.We really need to find another way to fight this war! It just isn't working anymore and I wonder if it ever did! One large drug deal can easily exceed the yearly salery of a law enforcement officer or lowly DEA agent. I just wonder how many corrupt agents are still out there. The officer that arrested me 4 years ago was from Cuyahoga County...David Smith, undercover officer......Is there a story somewhere that has all the names?
