New Poll Shows Support for State Issue 3

By Alan Johnson, The Columbus Dispatch

Ohio -- A public opinion poll conducted by Kent State University shows 56 percent of Ohioans support State Issue 3, a proposed constitutional amendment to legalize recreational and medical marijuana.Unlike a previous Quinnipiac poll, which produced similar numbers but referred generally to marijuana legalization, the Kent State poll asked specifically about Issue 3 and Issue 2, an anti-monopoly amendment aimed at killing the marijuana proposal even if it passes. WKYC, a Cleveland television station, commissioned Kent State to do the poll.
The poll has a margin of error of plus of minus 4 points, which means support for marijuana legalization could be as low as 52 or as high as 60 percent. The poll also showed 58 percent of respondents support Issue 2.The turnout Nov. 3 will be affected by the fact this is an off-year election, typically an indication of a lower turnout that favors Republicans.ResponsibleOhio Executive Director Ian James said he was "excited and invigorated by the polling that continues to show the majority of Ohioans support the legalization of medical marijuana and personal use marijuana for adults 21 and older."Curt Steiner, of Ohioans Against Marijuana Monopolies, disputed the poll results. "If the election were held today, Issue 2 would pass comfortably and issue 3 would be defeated by a wide margin," he said. He said voter dissatisfaction is evidenced by a "wide, deep and diverse" coalition that is part of the anti-Issue 3 campaign, plus negative editorials by Ohio's largest daily newspapers.Source: Columbus Dispatch (OH)Author: Alan Johnson, The Columbus Dispatch Published: October 13, 2015Copyright: 2015 The Columbus DispatchContact: letters dispatch.comWebsite: http://www.dispatch.com/URL: http://drugsense.org/url/JQRhnFiqCannabisNews -- Cannabis Archiveshttp://cannabisnews.com/news/list/cannabis.shtml

Hope
It will stay up and running until the Federal Laws are changed so then we can say the war is over! Some states won't budge but if the Federal law is changed that should change any bad state laws I would think.

I hope that you keep C-News open and running
until we can all rejoice together that the entire US is free of cannabis prohibition. Our group of resisters, and you, are who I want to share the joy and relief of that day, that moment, with.I'm not loving the job we've had... but I'm loving those people that have been part of the resistance to just accepting unjust laws laying down. We stood up... and said, "No. This prohibition has been pure evil. Stop it!"I won't forget any of you, either. Unless I forget everything... which sometimes at my age looks like a real possibility! :) It's been so dark for a long time now. Daylight up ahead!Again, thank you, dear, dear, determined and persistent FoM, for C-News.

Thank you Hope and Runruff
Every beginning has an end. Without out all of you CNews wouldn't have been possible. It does take a village sometimes. Some are still here, some have moved on and sadly some have passed away. I do have high hopes that we will see change happen and maybe before President Obama leaves office. The memories of CNews will always be with me. We fought through the years of the Bush Administration and survived the tragedy of 9/11 and so much more. Onward through the fog but the fog is slowly lifting and I see daylight on the horizon.

Has anyone ever in the known history of mankind
maintained a longer, virtually continuous cyber meeting of "Subversives", "Malcontents", and"Rabble Rousers" than C-News? Probably not. It's been a long time and we've shared our lives in so many ways. It's kind of a miracle we weren't all "Rounded up" and shut up, or unplugged. Remember, they wanted to. They wanted to make complaining about them and their plan and unjust laws a crime in itself. But here we are. Most of us made it. It's good. It's real good and I'm glad to be here. Thanks to FoM, this long, enduring, public conversation has been amazingly civil... and that's been good and good for us. We were forced to articulate our emotions in words instead of spewing endless, elaborate, or innovative cursing and insults. We did it. Mostly. We have and have had some geniuses posting here. I've been amazed and I've learned a lot. Thanks, peeps. Thanks, FoM.I feel and have felt a lot of emotion concerning people I've been communicating with here, often daily, for many years. We hashed this news of this long, long war, didn't we?! We tore it all to pieces and straightened it back out again. We learned from each other and we resisted evil. We've shared a lot here at The News. It's been a long time and it's been bloody enough. We've seen people we love be railroaded to prison. We've seen death and devastating loss. We've seen cruelty and hideous "Unintended consequences". It's been awful. Mostly awful. Though we had a few laughs, it hasn't been fun. But, I can see it's getting and going to get better and better.I'm so thankful.

How I will miss C/News!
I would call few people in my lifetime a hero. Heroes do not toot their own horn, they do not need to! Which is why I am tooting FoM's horn here today. I am a BIG fan of FoM and I call her my hero!Of course I convey my respect and gratitude for Stick. It takes two even though Stick has been the quiet one I feel his presence behind FoM.I am not looking forward to your retirement even though you well deserve it! You will always have the love, gratitude and respect from Me and My Dear Wife.

I would love to live long enough to be able to retire CannabisNews. What a great feeling that would be.

We are in the home stretch. It almost is not when but how it will all evolve. How will it finally be legal for adults and marketed. We have been having amazing ads on CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox.

Thank you. You know I love you.Hey, when you feel faint, you know you can lean on me. I've sure leaned on you enough. And you've always been there for me. Thank you.You have worked so hard and relentlessly on the Cannabis News project and the Cannabis News project has meant so much to all of us. I will always appreciate what you have done and what you do. Thank you so much. But here we are! I think I see the finish line. I so hope it is. It's already better... if not wrapped up.We all did well. Very well. Ours has been a totally righteous, absolutely, totally necessary struggle. We, all of us, wrestled with The Behemoth that everyone said we wouldn't have any effect on. We have been, to me, participating in a great act of great honor and fulfilling a duty to our fellow man. We stood up to a mob of self righteous, powerful, highly deluded killers. Killers backed by law. Prohibitionists that were and are still consuming our citizens and our nation by large, greedy, gaping mouth fulls.

Being happy.
I will be so happy for you!I will be happy for all the people of Ohio, but I will be especially happy for you and Stick. You've dedicated so much of your time, working daily towards achieving this, what was once an "Impossible" goal, and the righteousness and justice that comes with it.

When I go to vote and see marijuana on the ballot I am going to take a minute and look at it and think how long I have personally waited to see something like this on my state's ballot. CNews was started in late 1998. Almost 30,000 news articles and 17 years later here it is. I hope people get out and vote and it passes. I really would be so happy.
