DARE Published an Op-ed Calling for Legalization

USA -- The war on drugs is over, and weed won. D.A.R.E., the organization designed to plant a deep-seated fear of drugs in the minds of every late-20th-century middle schooler, published an op-ed calling for marijuana legalization.Written by former deputy sheriff Carlis McDerment in response to a letter in the Columbus Dispatch, the op-ed explains that it's impossible for law enforcement to control the sale of marijuana to minors. "People like me, and other advocates of marijuana legalization, are not totally blind to the harms that drugs pose to children," McDerment writes. "We just happen to know that legalizing and regulating marijuana will actually make everyone safer."
He continues:Anyone who suggests we outlaw everything dangerous to children would also have to ban stairs, Tylenol, bleach, forks and outlet sockets and definitely alcohol. Those things harm children every day, but anyone championing that we ban them would be laughed at.I support legalization precisely because I want to reduce youths’ drug use. Drug dealers don’t care about a customer’s age. The answer isn’t prohibition and incarceration; the answer is regulation and education. For a program that pioneered the questionable "just say no" policy, this is a breakthrough.Source: New Yorker Magazine (NY)Author: Claire LandsbaumPublished: July 31, 2015Copyright: 2015 The Conde Nast Publications Inc.Contact: themail newyorker.comWebsite: http://www.newyorker.com/URL: http://drugsense.org/url/1lWxNlUdCannabisNews -- Cannabis Archiveshttp://cannabisnews.com/news/list/cannabis.shtml

Be Yourself
If you go with mainstream society,it's like mortgaging your life to a faceless troll. If we're post-Obama, the message to people like DARE and other anti-pot beacons: we can't afford your point of view, and would be crazy to even attempt it.

Nope, just the opposite!!
They took it down, and said it "was a mistake" that this was on the DARE homepage. They're not deserving of any praise. In fact, they're still actively fear-mongering cannabis with things like this: "Every dangerous and addictive drug was once believed to be safe and medicinal. Cocaine, heroin and nicotine were once advertised as being good for you, or at least not harmful. In every instance, we learned otherwise — the hard way. Marijuana is the newest “safe” and “medicinal” drug to reenact this tragic drama. Just as scientific research is documenting the unequivocal public-health and public-safety dangers of marijuana, states are moving rapidly towards legalization or decriminalization." I hate stupid people, especially when they form groups....like DARE.

DARE screw Americans
DARE is responsible for increased hard drug use and addiction rates. Nothing good to say about them. No matter what they do today to turn around, they have screwed America. Badly.

Big Mistake
Oops! Looks like DARE skimmed a headline, and assumed it was consistent with DARE's jail-for-pot-smokers, police state make-work policy. D.A.R.E. Accidentally Publishes Pro-Marijuana Legalization Posthttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/dare-marijuana-legalization-op-ed_55bb824ee4b0b23e3ce256a4

DARE
This is really big news.
But its going to take time to educate the masses that have been misinformed for decades. I may be too optimistic in predicting 2 years for national legalization.
I wonder if republicans read the New Yorker.
