New York -- Mayor Michael Bloomberg thinks arguments for legalizing medical marijuana are half-baked. "Medical, my foot," Bloomberg-- who has admitted to enjoying smoking weed when he was younger-- told John Gambling during his weekly radio show. "There is no medical. This is one of the great hoaxes of all time," he said, suggesting legalizing medical pot would just make it easier for recreational users to light up.
"The bottom line is, I'm told marijuana is much stronger today than it was 20, 30 years ago," he continued, according to The New York Post. "That's one problem. No 2, drug dealers have families to feed. If they can't sell marijuana, they'll sell something else. And the something else will be something worse. The push to legalize this is wrongheaded."State Senator Diane Savino, who's co-sponsoring a bill to legalize medical marijuana in New York, thinks otherwise. "We're talking about people with terminal illnesses, seizure disorders," she told The Post. "We're not talking about recreational use."Dr. Sunil Aggarwal, Associate Member of the New York Academy of Medicine and Vice-Chair of NY Physicians for Compassionate Care, also disapproved of Bloomberg's comments. "Mayor Bloomberg's statement that medical marijuana is a hoax is tantamount to saying that the moon landing was faked,” he said in a statement. “Marijuana, given in oral and inhaled forms, has been shown in large, gold-standard, double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled trials conducted at major medical centers to relieve pain and muscle spasm, and stimulate appetite and weight gain in patients with wasting syndromes."Earlier this week, the New York Assembly passed a marijuana decriminalization bill. "...lets use basic logic and rationality: Liquor is stronger than beer does that mean you're gonna drink more of it? Of course not it just means you need to use less for the same effects.
Give a heavy user of cannabis a pound they will smoke the regular amount they always would give a cocaine or heroin addict a lb of that and they will be dead in short order."So true and so ignored by the proponents of control and authoritarianism AKA 'prohibitionists.' Also seemingly ignored by some of the so-called 'anti-prohibitionists'...However I feel it necessary to point out that 'logic and rationality' existed before modern 'science' decided they could be the final definitive 'authority' on the subject, and in fact their 'academia' was an open house for corruption, perhaps less noticeable than say cops and politicians, but the results are a horror story and we're experiencing and reading about it daily. Too much credit is given,-unintentionally perhaps- by referencing the tenets of a failed system. (IMO)"Speaking of this we can now move into the other drugs; the ones that actually do harm to society because they are addictive. Cannabis prohibition is what caused the increase of these other drugs;" And to recognize that there are 'addictions' that aren't 'drug related' but are just as potentially and actually damaging to persons and society as any hard drug currently known seems to elude the discussion as well..."Any natural drug being illegal is a morality law; based on fear, suspicion, and little to no knowledge or experience of it, other than horror story propaganda." I agree, but the 'morality' is the excuse and basis for LAW in the first place. Once cannot separate the premise and foundation of the LAW as only one mere aspect of it. The LAW is in fact so far extended beyond its original so-called 'intent' of serving and protecting the people, it has become the people's 'enemy number one.' It does not serve any interests but the interests of the elite, and those interests have really mucked up this planet and our lives."But any way; we have a chance for growth based on science and compassion, not oppressed under the worn out banner of rhetoric based on nothing but lies and fear."Again I agree, except I would rather we used the 'science of compassion' and leave the rest of the pretenders out of it."Too bad it won't be our standing president now as he promised in the beginning to do something about it; which most likely allowed him to make history as the first African American president... I mean it could be him if he wanted it to be; but there's no real hope in that happening these days."Yeah, and who's the next patsy they're gonna offer up?"Legalization sure would give a giant kick to Dr. King's dream for equality of all men now wouldn't it? So much racial profiling and discrimination in the drug war, that's a horrible abomination to humanity and equality."Anybody notice that people like Dr. King get abnormal reaction in exercising his supposedly 'right of free speech?' -like ostracism, ridicule, economic throttling, imprisonment, and if that don't work, just kill 'em.?Thanks for stimulating my old decrepit, legally medicated brain!LEGALIZE FREEDOM

Rationality and logic; the science of facts...
Either he is trying to fear monger or just unaware of the facts. Either way it's wrong reasoning... lets use basic logic and rationality: Liquor is stronger than beer does that mean you're gonna drink more of it? Of course not it just means you need to use less for the same effects. So what may have took a whole joint in his day, now takes 1/4 of one... people do not fiend for it like addicts and don't know when to stop, because it's not physically addictive.Give a heavy user of cannabis a pound they will smoke the regular amount they always would give a cocaine or heroin addict a lb of that and they will be dead in short order. Speaking of this we can now move into the other drugs; the ones that actually do harm to society because they are addictive. Cannabis prohibition is what caused the increase of these other drugs; it's a fact feel free to look it up. A non addictive feel good substance and medicine such as cannabis is yet another deterrent to the addictive drugs, if alcohol is the only choice in the grocery store are you gonna outlaw and jail people that would rather have water too? Humans like choices, and if someone wants to relax for a short period of time from stress or use it as medicine physical or spiritual and alcohol is all they get... hey hell of a choice... it's either get drunk or abstain. Don't like alcohol? Well, sorry you have no other choice... oh wait yes you do; the black market grocery store.Choice is a good thing and adult human beings should be able to make them without interference from another, unless they are truly physically harming others... disapproval and outlawing because a group simply does not like it, is not a valid reason for something being illegal to adult human beings. Any natural drug being illegal is a morality law; based on fear, suspicion, and little to no knowledge or experience of it, other than horror story propaganda. But any way; we have a chance for growth based on science and compassion, not oppressed under the worn out banner of rhetoric based on nothing but lies and fear.Cannabis does not need to be regulated because it does not harm public health and public safety in a significant way legal or not. Other drugs that are physically addictive they are more of a public health concern but treated as a public safety concern; alcohol gets treated as both. So fine regulate it like alcohol; and when the world see's the error of it's past mistake in the prohibition of cannabis then things will relax back into normalcy; with the world a much safer place as a result. Hell, we might even get an apology by the standing president... for the drug war one day; just as Clinton apologized for slavery. Too bad it won't be our standing president now as he promised in the beginning to do something about it; which most likely allowed him to make history as the first African American president... I mean it could be him if he wanted it to be; but there's no real hope in that happening these days.Legalization sure would give a giant kick to Dr. King's dream for equality of all men now wouldn't it? So much racial profiling and discrimination in the drug war, that's a horrible abomination to humanity and equality.

Crimes Against Humanity.
A friend had a serious asthma attack. After a week in hospital she could walk again and walked to my place around the corner. We shared a puff and she went back to hospital and had her afternoon lung test. The chatty nurses went quiet and looked at each other. Her lung capacity had doubled since her morning test. 2 nurses left the room and the remaining nurse said out loud "Officially it doesn't help". Then he leaned toward her and said quietly "but unofficially it does". Another friend with very serious back pain managed to get some buds of much higher quality than he had scored in years. He said it gave him the first full nights sleep he had had in as many years.A close friend died of Lymphoma. I would take her little bits. She told me it helped her "put the pain to one side". Once she was bedridden I could no longer give her anymore. Her last words were "more morphine". To deny people their medicine in time of great need is no different to beating someone with a stick or holding them under water. It is torture and murder on a mass scale that happens as the result of wide spread harassment and persecution of groups in the community. That means that prohibition is a "Crime Against Humanity"and the people responsible know exactly what they have done.We must do all we can to end the drug war as soon as possible and when it is over we must not fail to put the criminals responsible on trial.

Why Listen To This Tool?
Consider the source - rich, out of touch politician says what?30 years ago he'd have popular opinion on his side but there is no excuse to be so completely ignorant of science on such an important subject in this day and age. And he's the mayor of the largest city in the U.S.?! Can you impeach a mayor? He's obviously and criminally misinformed but worse - he might actually believe what he's saying, which would make him an idiot as well. And notice how slick he went from addressing cannabis as (not)medicine to "drug dealers" and his opinion that making cannabis legal won't stop them from dealing drugs? It's a common tactic among liars in our government to seamlessly switch the argument from cannabis to "drugs" as a generic term intended to cloud the issue. It's tragic, but what it will take for this clown to admit the truth is if he or someone he cares about (his stock broker?) comes down with cancer and they use cannabis to effectively treat the disease. Happens every day - remember the moron politician who was against gay marriage until his son came out of the closet to him? Is this how things are - politicians only act in THEIR best interest? And we RE-ELECT them? How is it that it's illegal to lie to a cop, but our own president, mayor, head of the "Justice" Dept. can lie at will to us, provably, and face no consequences whatsoever?Bow down to your masters, do not make eye contact, do as you are told. If you dare question their decrees or if you dissent in any way, you will be marked, pursued, and made an example of.That's the United States of America, buddy!

That was great, Runruff.
She's got an inkling of truth going in that thought though. It's a fact that unjust laws breed contempt for laws in general.

She is sure these new laws will destroy the institution of marrige. To console her I assured her, "When in-laws are out-lawed only out-laws will have in-laws.I said, Mom, I am afraid you will need to turn in your costco card and start packin' heat. You know what? Open letter.
Open letter to Mayor Bloomberg: To the Mayor -- Hi Michael. I read your comments from the radio show lately about medical cannabis being a "hoax". I just wanted to tell you how insanely idiotic and transparent you look like in 2013. Study after study shows this plant has medical value. You are a colossal douche and frankly, a very dangerous, arrogant a-hole prohibitionist to put it as polite as possible. I'll elaborate. First, there are US citizens that your tax dollars pay for, their medical cannabis. It is grown & dispensed by the federal government. Second, they are now dispensing medical cannabis in Washington DC after a voter referendum, passed many years ago, was just recently implemented. Washington DC is the center of the federal government if you did not know. Do the voters there have more a voting power than other US citizens? Don't think so. It's called voter equality. Remember that. Third, you are a billionaire and politician -- these are extreme rarities in people and I think therefore you are vastly out of touch with the average American and in fact, you are completely unable to judge honestly the average American. ESPECIALLY a sick one...which brings me to my Fourth point: Are you a doctor Mayor Bloomberg? I do not think you are. Why should I, or anyone, take advice on if a plant has medical properties and actual, real effect from YOU? Why? Because you somehow managed to convince for a day, a majority of New York voters to vote for you? Ahh, no. You again, are showing your ignorance and arrogance, much like our current president. I could go on with many more points but I will not. I just hopefully want to make points on 2 levels. One, there are many medical uses for cannabis. Legitimate, life saving medical uses. Fact. Two, recreational use of this plant is safer than recreational use of alcohol (which no one or corporation seems to have a problem with, ever, if it's "responsible") and 2 states have recently legalized recreational use of cannabis -- does this scare you Mayor Corporate Bloomberg? The fact is I called you a dangerous prohibitionist because you don't see the real bigger picture. The drug war -- specifically here the "war on marijuana" is TEARING THIS COUNTRY APART. It is a violent, ugly war on your fellow Americans. We are American citizens, see? It is civil war. You want to keep it up forever, indefinitely until...? When? Logic is this: The war on Americans, against "drugs", is unwinnable and therefore you should tax and regulate tightly ALL drugs -- starting 1st with cannabis. Take advantage too of all the many uses of industrial hemp. But as far as drug policy towards recreational cannabis goes: it is tax and regulate. This can be the only way all will see over time. 70+ years we have waged war on this plant and it has got to stop -- most simply because the war on cannabis is unwinnable, again. People will always want to self-medicate with the most natural remedy. That simple. Possibly though, Mayor, you are so corporate steeped (I mean, you do own one or 2, right?) and caught up in your own decadent world of power, control and out-of-touchness well, you don't see this. I think rather that control aspect wins out in you. You see some fake an illness to get "medical" cannabis and then pounce on those few. You are a transparent, fake, hypocritical politician. The wave of the future is safe, legal, responsible adult use of cannabis. "I like it, you bet!" I say to this. Kinda like how you use to view your own past recreational use of cannabis...No?You are an uber-hypocrite Mayor. Make room for progress and the future. Get out of the way.Safe and legal in all 50 states by 2020. For a safer, better America.Goodnight.-- Gloovins.

Bloomberg's billions.`
I wonder how many schelkels he has invested in big pharm stocks? His Jewish counterparts in Israel disagree with him.76% of American doctors now are calling cannabis medicine. Now the kicker, thousands of years of use as medicine. You would think that after a couple of thousand years of being ineffective as medicine, mankind would have caught on, but neeewwwwww! We as humans just keep on with the stuff even now, even though the little rich guy who is not a doctor, has spoken.

It's good to see you. He wants to keep marijuana illegal because what will drug dealers do? That is what he implied. Very odd sense of reason. Punish marijuana consumers so drug dealers don't move on to worse stuff he is saying. This is the most upside down logic I have heard in quite some time.
