Bill Targets Certain Kinds of Medical Marijuana

Colorado -- A new bill that attempts to create more restrictions on the medical marijuana industry was released on Wednesday. The bill, House Bill 11-1250, was written to “prohibit marijuana-infused consumable food and beverage product manufacturing and sale.” It has since been amended to only apply to ointments and tinctures, not food or beverage products. Ryan Hartman, owner of the Boulder Wellness Center, worries about the bill’s impact on his dispensary.
“It would definitely hurt business. My business focuses on people over 40, and most of them prefer food.” Hartman says. “Some 90 to 100 percent of cancer patients prefer food. If you have cancer from smoking, and the doctor recommends marijuana, you don’t want to consume it by smoking it.” It’s one of the many restrictions he’s seen that attempts to control the market of medical marijuana products. “A year ago I would’ve said I wasn’t worried about [the bill passing],” he says. “But, yeah, crazier bills have passed.”The bill’s language claims the bill is necessary for “the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.” The public hearing for HB 11-1250 has been set for March 1 before the House Judiciary Committee.Rep. Cindy Acree and Republican Sen. Scott Renfroe are the sponsors of the bill. Neither could be reached for comment at this time. About tinctures, Sam...
Actually they are VERY simple to make- they just take time! Alcohol tinctures are nothing more than everclear (you use the highest proof vodka you can find) and finely ground cannabis. Mix the two, put in a dark place or a brown glass bottle, and shake it once a day for a month. Strain and use!Glycerin tinctures (thicker, sweet, no alcohol burn- available at health food stores) are the same process, only you have to stir them because the glycerin is thick and it takes 2 months for the best results. Time is the limiting factor here, Sam, not difficulty!I make my own cannabis skin cream by mixing canna-oil and bees wax, heating til the wax is melted and stirring it while it cools. By varying the amount of wax you can make everything from an oily lotion to a stiff cream. A drop or two of mint or lemon extract, mixed in while cooling, will keep you from smelling like a grow op! If the results are not what you want, reheat and add more wax, or oil,- just fiddle with it until you are happy! There are numerous web sites on making your own cosmetics- many of their recipes are easy to change over into cannabis products! The sites do tend to be "girly" and "frilly", but I can overlook that to find good recipes! Most folks are afraid to try and make anything beyond brownies, and the truth is, it's easier than most of you think! For some more detailed recipes for tinctures and topical ointments, run a search for "Granny Storm Crow's MMJ Reference List" (I think FoM has it up around here somewhere. The recipes are in the "Methods of Use" section. You CAN do it yourself! Have fun!

how much are bio-refineries worth in jobs &taxes
have often thought that CO would have pressed for a study but have not heard a thing about using Hemp cellulose for feed-stock at the NREL in Golden CO
http://cannabisnews.com/news/23/thread23749.shtmlColorado -- Former CIA Director Jim Woolsey is scheduled to address a meeting today at the Canadian Consulate in Denver. But he won't speak about terrorism. "If you harvested hemp, you could use part of the plant for industrial purposes and the rest of the plant for cellulosic feed- stock for some type of biofuels."seen elsewhere reminded me of Howards tee-shirts

How fortunate....
...we all are, to have legislators with such vast medical knowledge, experience and foresight, to guide us.I mean, Senators Acree and Renfroe ARE medical doctors specializing in all the maladies covered in the the Colorado medical cannabis laws,....right? Ooops, Acree is an attorney and Renfroe, a concrete contractor, abstinence pushing education board member and family shareholder of the failed Frontier Banks...nevermind. They have no place telling anyone how or when to take medicine.sigh
