The petition was formally filed at the state health department by Kevin Grimsinger, an Army veteran and double amputee who said he lost his legs after stepping on a land mine in 2001 in Afghanistan. "People who have served our country or other people who were injured and have PTSD should be able to have access to medicine that helps them," said Brian Vicente, executive director of Sensible Colorado, an advocacy group backing the Colorado voters in 2000 approved a constitutional amendment allowing for the use of medical marijuana for eight conditions. The amendment also creates a petition process by which more conditions can be approved. If they couldn't get Parkinson's and asthma in I doubt they'll get PTSD approved. There are several excellent studies for asthma and Parkinson's showing the efficacy of cannabis for those ailments.Again this is why the initial referendum language is so critical. It must include ALL conditions. Setting up a state-administered process to add new conditions is just cruel to the suffering patients. It's like sacrificing them on the altar of bureaucratic indifference.State governments don't play fair with medical cannabis, they passionately hate everything about it. They're getting paid to hate it by Big Pharma and others.
