Posted by FoM on January 12, 1999 at 20:23:49 PT "Snitch" investigates how a fundamental shift in the country's anti-drug laws -- including federal mandatory minimum sentencing and conspiracy provisions--has bred a culture of snitching that is in many cases rewarding the guiltiest and punishing the less guilty. Willie Jordan was a member of the jury which convicted Clarence Aaron. In 1992, 18-year-old Joey received a ten year mandatory minimum sentence for selling LSD. (In 1994 Congress enacted a "safety-valve" permitting relief from mandatory minimums for certain non-violent, first-time drug offenders.)
