Attempts To Cheat Drug Tests Flushable!

A convicted drug dealer could think of only one way to stay out of prison, and it required him to bank on the bladder of a child.
On probation and facing a drug test he was certain to fail, the felon showed up with a balloon taped to his leg. In it, he toted the urine of an 11-year-old neighbor.Simple plan - empty the balloon into the cup - but it had a hitch: He did not figure on the forensics employee who would follow him into the restroom to be sure he did not cheat. He failed, but he was not the first."People will do anything to continue using drugs and not get caught," said Marie L. Seaman Bastik, director of forensic services for Lorain County. "Imagine relying on a child. We treat everyone the same. We can't trust anyone."A record 10,000 people are on probation in Ohio, and most are forced to take regular drug tests at a time when officials say the market for test-cheating aids is booming. Hundreds of Internet sites guarantee products such as powdered urine and drinks that flush the system. Even health food stores stock chemicals and herbs that advertise purifying ingredients. Most of the remedies do not work, but that does not stop people from trying. Criminal justice officials estimate that up to one-fifth of the people on probation in Northeast Ohio try to cheat on drug tests. They say cheating runs wild largely because probation officers have stepped up pressure on drug abusers, often ordering them to take tests on as little as an hour's notice. The results can be laughable.- A woman in Lorain County placed a film canister of clean urine in her vagina and tried to pass a test while a lab employee stood 2 feet away. It caused two problems: The woman failed her test, and the film canister clogged the toilet.- When a lab technician in Medina County told an offender that he had failed, the man grew angry. "How can I flunk?" he asked. "That wasn't even my urine."- Last year, a Lake County man submitted a specimen for a presentence report that showed he was pregnant. Instead of his own urine, he had used the urine of his 19-year-old pregnant wife.More than any of these, lab technicians cringe at a story from London Correctional Institution near Columbus. There, an inmate who worked in the dairy barn gave a sample with a distinct color and composition - the urine of a Holstein. In prisons, officials said, one of the most valuable forms of contraband is a bottle of clean urine. About once a month, guards at the Lorain Correctional Institution seize bottles from inmates who had planned to sell them to their peers.Probation officers say the chance of getting an inaccurate test is minuscule. In most laboratories in Northeast Ohio, machines can detect a dirty specimen 98 percent of the time, technicians and probation officers say.In Lorain County, about 60 percent of felons fail their first test while on probation, Seaman Bastik said. Most times, probation officers use the test as a baseline. If offenders cheat and fail again, they head to a courtroom."There's a consequence when people play stupid games, and that penalty is going back to court, where a judge can send them to prison," said Barry Spring, chief probation officer in Lake County.Mark McNeil, a Lorain man convicted of drug possession, sat outside a laboratory in Elyria this month and relaxed. He did not pace, chain smoke or gulp water like some people do in an attempt to flush their systems at the last minute."It isn't easy to cheat and pass," he said. "Anything that you try will show up, eventually."Several sites on the Internet claim otherwise. One offers fixes with a "200 percent guarantee." Another, known as Bladder Cops, includes tables showing how long drugs stay in a person's system - and what supposedly can be taken to eliminate them.George Harper, chief probation officer in Summit County, said that drinking vinegar was one of the most common - and unsuccessful - test-fighting measures. The vinegar accomplishes little other than inducing nausea, he said. Large amounts of water, too, merely dilute the urine, making it obvious someone has tried a fast one.Lab technicians in Lorain County tell of the fluorescent green specimen one woman provided."She said she drank a lot of Mountain Dew," said Aaron Simmons, a lab technician in Elyria. "Well, I drink Mountain Dew, too, and that doesn't make that much of a difference."Michael Willets, chief probation officer in Lorain County, offers the only foolproof way to a clean test: "Stop using drugs. That's the best advice anyone can give you."E-mail: jcanigli plaind.comPhone: 1-800-767-2821 Monday, July 26, 1999©1999 THE PLAIN DEALER. © 1999 Cleveland Live. All rights reserved.

Don't have any idea
This is a cannabis and drug policy news board but how to pass a drug test isn't something we talk about. Good Luck.

Please -- Quick help with drug testing . . .
I am taking a drug test tonight at the local hospital, and need help with passing it:I smoked regularly about 3-4 times a day, but haven't in a couple weeks. I have drank tons of water and taken Viatamin B Complex (for color). Any other good advice?I've heard mixed ideas about using Visine (1-2 drops) as undetectable and effective. Any news?Any help at all? Thanks and Peace,FreedomNow

positive drug test

I am wondering why I can go for a month without smoking and yet when my probation officer tests me I turn up positive. I have actually gone right after she tests me to a hospital and gotten tested again, without cheating, and the same day my test will turn up negative. At least 5 times.
