Washington DC: Governor Gary Johnson (R-NM) will join Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA), ACLU Executive Director Ira Glasser, San Francisco District Attorney Terence Hallinan and other distinguished guests this week at the annual conference of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML). Speakers will call on federal officials to end the war on marijuana smokers, and stop arresting patients and others who use marijuana responsibly.
"Marijuana-law reform is a mainstream issue that enjoys growing public support, as is evident by the contingent of prominent elected officials appearing at this year's conference," announced NORML Executive Director R. Keith Stroup, Esq. "Millions of responsible Americans smoke marijuana, and they should no longer be arrested or treated like criminals." The three-day convention starts Thursday, April 19, and will be broadcast live on the Internet at: http://www.norml.org/ Ira Glasser will deliver the keynote address Thursday morning, followed by a special luncheon speech by Gov. Johnson. Congressman Frank will speak at noon on Saturday. NORML scheduled this year's conference to coincide with "4/20," the date that has become synonymous in the popular culture with the celebration of personal freedom by marijuana smokers. Other panel discussions will include: racial discrimination in drug law enforcement, international developments in marijuana-law reform, an examination of how media coverage shapes drug policy, and an evaluation of the 107th Congress and the prospects for federal marijuana-law reform. Social events include an opening night silent auction and special awards presentation, as well as a NORML benefit party on Friday night.Note: Political Officials, Leaders to Call for an End to Marijuana Prohibition at "4/20" NORML ConferenceFEATURED SPEAKERS: Gary Johnson is the twice-elected Republican governor of New Mexico, and is one of the nation's leading advocates for ending the drug war and legalizing marijuana. Freedom Fighter:
I wanted to share this story in the midst of all of the Injusticism that's continuing throughout New jersey. Wouldn't it seem like New Jersey has got More important "issues to solve?" Apparently not, but I'm only a citizen of this "land of the free" (to prosecute and prohibit-these days). You're completely welcome. It seem so suspicious that the "Election 2000" has disenfranchised SO many blind, illiterate, deaf, mentally-challenged, poverty-struck, and just plain "dumb" folk that it should be Prosecuted as a Crime.

It's Ok FoM! Thank you---!
You're right! I wasn't Highly aware that was Thee Case. Thanks for letting me know, though...I love this site more than any site involved with Cannabis. The people here are Out of THIS World! They're sooo smart, I'm Sure that you're aware. I love how you participate with your Audience. I couldn't say enough, really, about the good that Cannabisnews Has Created....Keep up the awesome work.N.J. Girl Stopped From Signing BRANCHBURG, N.J. (AP) - A 12-year-old girl with impaired hearing was ordered to stop using sign language on her school bus because administrators said it was creating a safety problem.Danica Lesko's parents said they are filing a complaint with the state education department. The Leskos have already sued over an incident they said caused the girl's hearing damage, when another student set off a bottle rocket in a hallway in November.Stony Brook School Principal J. Harry Westerholm told the couple in a letter March 30 that the girl would be suspended for three days if she did not stop signing.``Sign language, or any behavior, is not permitted if it is going to cause a disturbance on the bus,'' Westerholm said Tuesday. He said Danica was the only student reprimanded because she was the only one who refused to stop signing.Westerholm said he could not describe how using sign language could cause a disturbance and referred the question to the district's transportation office, which would not comment on the matter. The Leskos said they may sue over the ban. ``It's absurd,'' Mary Ann Lesko told The Star-Ledger of Newark for Wednesday's editions. And this just in from the Associated Press... Federal Investigators are looking into (Democratic) NJ Senator, Robert Torricelli, for accepting Gifts from a donor. Maybe it's just me, but doesn't NJ seem to have more Important problems to Investigate, than that of its' Senator? Like the Racist Posters/Pictures in the State Trooper Barracks???

Just a small request
Hi jAHn,I just wanted to let you know why I don't post direct links to articles. Maybe you didn't know this. The links for articles like these only last a few days and then the link will break. That's why MapInc. and C News doesn't post direct links. We archive our articles but most news web sites don't. I thought I should let you know. It is hard for me to keep up with removing broken links, so if you post a little about the article that would be easier on me. Thank You for being part of CannabisNews.

A Bus Driver Bans the use of Sign-Language by Deaf.http://dailynews.yahoo.com/htx/ap/20010418/us/sign_language_ban_3.htmlFor those of you who feel that America is Normal This just goes to show that (us!)Americans are nowhere near Normal! Who in their "Right Mind" would hire a Goon like such?
