This is really wrong in my book!
Columbus, Ohio A woman who works for a private security consultant went undercover to infiltrate an illegal drug trade among workers at a West Sideauto parts plant, investigators said.
The woman, whose identity has been withheld, was the point operative in a 14-month Franklin County Sheriff's Office probe that resulted in 15 people arrested on felony drug charges at Delphi Interiors Systems, 200 Georgesville Rd., yesterday afternoon.Posing as a Delphi employee, the woman gained the trust of co-workers to the extent some offered to sell her marijuana, crack cocaine, Valium and prescription painkillers. All the while, she kept in daily contact with sheriff's investigators and officials at North American Security Solutions, a private company hired by Delphi to investigate drug trafficking at the plant, officials said. Most of the purchases she made were for small amounts of drugs, such as a quarter-ounce of marijuana or a gram of cocaine, said Michael P. Spencer, president of the Vandalia, Ohio-based security firm.A similar operation at a General Motors plant in Toledo Nov. 17 netted six arrests, Spencer said.Only one undercover investigator was involved in the local probe, Sheriff Jim Karnes said.About 40 officers from the sheriff's office special- investigations, SWAT and K-9 units, Franklin Township Police and company security moved in about 4 p.m., Karnes said. "We weren't looking to get him,'' Karnes said. Teaford, a Delphi supervisor, is charged with one felony count of drug trafficking. He and 14 others arrested were in the Franklin County jail last night:Formerly known as GM Fisher Guide, Delphi Interiors Systems manufactures automotive door latches and door modules, said Jennifer Timkey, Delphi spokeswoman. The plant has 1,440 employees, about 350 of whom were working when the arrests were made, Timkey said."Employees were arrested from all three shifts. Some were at the plant working overtime. Some were picked up at home,'' she said. The investigation came after some Delphi employees and the sheriff's office informed the company of suspected drug trafficking there, she said.
