Troubled rocker Scott Weiland pleaded guilty yesterday to a misdemeanor drug charge to settle his heroin bust on the lower East Side last year.
The lead singer for the Stone Temple Pilots received a conditional discharge from Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Neil Ross.Weiland pleaded guilty to seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, the lowest drug-possession charge available. Ross said the case will be dismissed if Weiland, 31, completes a drug rehabilitation program and stays out of trouble for a year.Sporting a new auburn-tinted Mohawk haircut, Weiland told the judge he had finished a stay at a drug treatment center and was now an outpatient in an after-care program. The rocker, who has battled heroin addiction for years, was nabbed by undercover cops in June outside a housing project in Alphabet City after buying $100 worth of heroin. The arrest marred the launch of his solo career, which began last year with the release of the album "12 Bar Blues."Weiland, of Pasadena, Calif., recently returned to the band.
