ALLIANCE City police found about one kilogram of marijuana during a Friday night drug raid at the home of a 27-year-old man recently placed under electronically monitored house arrest from a previous narcotics charge.
Michael D. Hardy Jr., 27, of 522 S. Rockhill Ave. was still wearing his home-monitoring device, an ankle bracelet, when taken into custody, police said.He was arrested on a new charge, felony possession of marijuana, police said.His live-in girlfriend, April Raffle, 22, was charged with permitting drug abuse.Previously, Hardy had been arrested Jan. 7 as part of a federal drug investigation in Alliance, police said.He was among 22 persons arrested in what officials described as a major drug raid in Alliance. It was the result of a two-year investigation of an alleged cocaine ring based in Alliance, with reported ties to the Columbus area and the East Coast.He was released on a $25,000 bond Jan. 12 and placed under house arrest while awaiting the disposition of his federal drug case.The Rockhill Avenue home had been under investigation by police who said they believed Hardy was still selling narcotics. Officers in the department's Special Response Team, Narcotics Unit and K-9 Unit took part in Friday's raid.Inside the home, officers found a portable scale, plastic bags and $535. They recovered a digital scale and the 2.2 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of a vehicle parked outside.The marijuana had been packed in two large freezer bags and four smaller bags, with the smaller bags filled with quarter-ounce bags packaged for sale, police said.
