A 13-year-old boy was shot and left to die last month over an ounce of marijuana, his brother testified Thursday. Luis Gonzalez said he and his sister were dividing an ounce of marijuana into smaller bags when three men came into their house Jan. 22.
Gonzalez, 15, testified Thursday at a preliminary hearing for Shawn Beasley, 19. Beasley and three others are charged with being party to first-degree murder in the shooting death of Adrian Gonzalez. " I heard somebody come up the stairs, " Luis Gonzalez said Thursday. The door was flung open and a man showed a revolver and asked where the money and drugs were, Gonzalez said. Assistant District Attorney Bob Kaiser asked if the man with the gun was present in the courtroom. Gonzalez pointed to Beasley. Court documents suggest that Beasley and the others learned Gonzalez might have drugs and money at the home, which provided a motive for a robbery. Gonzalez was shot twice. Another shot struck Adrian Gonzalez in the chest. The younger boy died a short time later at a hospital. Dane County Circuit Court Judge Moria Krueger bound Beasley over for trial. The three other suspects, Connan Johnson, 21, Andre Penson, 17, and Jamaica Wilson, 18, have already been bound over for trial after waiving their preliminary hearings. The men all are scheduled to be arraigned March 10. Madison, Wis. (AP) Copyright 2000 Associated Press. Published: February 17, 2000© Copyright 2000.
