Proposal To Restrict Oregon MMJ Use Gets Trashed

Oregon -- Legislators got an earful Wednesday from medical marijuana advocates who condemned a proposal to greatly restrict who can legally use the drug to combat illnesses. It's the second time in recent weeks that the issue has come up, as some lawmakers have made it clear they think too many people are scamming the law that allows use of cannabis to treat some diseases and symptoms.
"I personally think the program is out of control," said Sen. Jeff Kruse, R-Roseburg, sponsor of one of the bills targeting the growth of medical marijuana use. "I know people who just find it a legal way to smoke pot." Opponents called his proposal "heartless" and said it would subject cancer patients and other sick people who rely on marijuana to arrest and imprisonment. To take away an effective medical treatment "is simply a cruel task, a cruel thing to do that will only harm someone battling cancer," said Anthony Johnson, spokesman for a coalition of groups that support medical marijuana. Kruse's proposal, contained in Senate Bill 777, strikes several general illnesses from the list of those for which cannabis can be legally used, including cancer, severe pain, severe nausea and seizures. It replaces them with more specific conditions, such as nausea resulting from chemotherapy treatment for cancer, and spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis. Kruse said he came up with the list after asking a number of doctors what kind of conditions marijuana is effective against. He said he hears from law enforcement, particularly in southern Oregon, that marijuana use is rampant, partly because of its legal use for medical reasons. Jeff Kruse...
He is one of the many spawn of the old man Kruse who settled here in my town about 100 years ago and set up the first saw-mill here in our area. The Kruse family have devastated the forest lands around this area. Their sawmill is only two miles down the road from me. They have depleted the commercial trees until all saw mills began to close here about 30 years ago up until now. Kruse's mill is still operating, it has been sold to family members. The mill only works part time since the only trees they have to mill now is when some private party sells their trees to them. I know these people would be out there bidding on the last standing tree to cut down and mill and sell. When I first moved here 25 years ago, there was a raging cultural war going on between the herb growers [ including alternative lifestylers] and the loggers led by the Kruses. They openly declared how much they hated hippies. They called them tree huggers and owl lovers.Jeff Kruse is a spoiled, rich, redneck who never worked a day in his life, who hates what he does not understand. I have met him several times and have never spoken to him. The next time I see him that will change!

Let them smoke pot.
Marijuana use is rampant is is? And what greater evil is being caused by that? Has the sky fallen in? Are millions lying dead in the streets. No! What is in fact going on is that a whole lot of people are coming out openly and smoking publicly instead of secretly and now you can see it. It's your eyes that are hurting and your damn foolish ego. "Oh I am so offended. The people are not doing what I told them to do. How can I force them to obey me".
Short answer, YOU CAN'T. So get used to it. We're taking back what rightfully belongs to us and there's nothing you can do to stop. Prohibition is dead!!!
