SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- In Paul de la Garza's July 27 description of Colombia's civil war, U.S. drug czar Barry McCaffrey is quoted as saying "Drugs is the heart and soul of many of these problems," specifically "the money, the corruption, and violence that flow from it."
In truth, it is drug prohibition that causes these problems, a prohibition that we are coercing Colombian officials into maintaining.McCaffrey claims that a democracy is in trouble, but a democracy should implement the will of the people. I would bet all I have that in a fair referendum, Colombians would decriminalize the drug trade.Pubdate: August 9, 1999Chicago TribuneThe Narco-Guerrilla War - August 6, 1999http://www.cannabisnews.com/news/thread2382.shtml

What would we have as our evil demon
American politicians and generals need an evil demon to fight. We had Russia for so long and then they went away so we had to spend our money on something and MJ came to the forefront. How can we continue to cause destabilization in other countries weakenning them to make us strong - theWar on Drugs. How can we further repress the minorities - the War on Drugs. How can we great economic gain for several industries all at once (prisons, politicians, retired generals, drug companies etc.) - the War on drugs. There are too many people who want it to continue and those people are in power. They realize the stupidity, but they realize the money too. Take the colonels wife in Columbia.CheersRainbow

Freedom
Drug dealers would have to get a job and we could grow our own gardens and how nice that would be! To be free to have an herb garden. That is all Cannabis is. A medicinal herb!

stores
If it were legal the drug dealers would have to get real jobs, perhaps opening up their own stores.
