Michigan -- A proposal to allow Michigan patients to use marijuana for medical purposes appears headed to the November 2008 ballot. The Michigan Coalition for Compassionate Care said today it turned in 496,000 petition signatures to the Secretary of State's office. It needs about 304,000 valid signatures to qualify for the ballot.
"Seriously ill patients who are following the advice of their doctor should not face the threat of arrest and jail for simply taking their medicine," coalition spokeswoman Dianne Byrum said in a statement. Under the proposal, seriously ill patients would be able to grow and use a limited amount of marijuana for medical purposes under the recommendation of a doctor. The state would create a registry of patients authorized to use medical marijuana, including an ID system to help law enforcement officials.Twelve states now permit medical marijuana, according to the coalition.Complete Title: Medical Marijuana Question May Be Headed To Nov. That's beautiful. I found just the pictures for ease of viewing. This was done in the 60s? ***Excerpt: But the 'Temples of Damanhur' are not the great legacy of some long-lost civilisation, they are the work of a 57-year-old former insurance broker from northern Italy who, inspired by a childhood vision, began digging into the rock. It all began in the early Sixties when Oberto Airaudi was aged ten. From an early age, he claims to have experienced visions of what he believed to be a past life, in which there were amazing temples. Around these he dreamed there lived a highly evolved community who enjoyed an idyllic existence in which all the people worked for the common good. More bizarrely still, Oberto appeared to have had a supernatural ability: the gift of "remote viewing" - the ability to travel in his mind's eye to describe in detail the contents of any building. "My goal was to recreate the temples from my visions," he says. http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/097CF5B9-7961-4367-A167-62AE3431B5C4/http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/11_03/hallmirrorsDM2111_800x364.jpg

I'll do my best and thank you. When I did a search and found his name as one of those lost it really reminded me of that time when she shared almost every detail of how she felt when the Scorpion didn't return and how she waited with the other wives on the dock. She would be seeing him for the first time since she found out she was pregnant. She was about 20 years old when this happened.

oops....sorry for the mix up
Well that's good that she found someone that was right for her after that tragedy. I know it can be a hard process for someone to find another after they lost a loved one. Don't let the politics thing bother you either. It's not worth it.

The man who met the mother and child and made their life happy wasn't her husband or father of the little girl but he rescued her from the grief of the loss of her husband who went down on the Scorpion Submarine. I haven't seen her since we moved to Ohio in the early 70s. I hope they are happy and still fine.I try to stay calm and focus on good things but my blood pressure has really gone up. I checked it at Walmart and I hadn't known what it was since I last saw a doctor in 94. My fear of being flamed about politics has me very uptight. I know that is what is causing it.

Forgot to mention
I just found out from MCCC today that the State of Michigan has 60-90 days to validate the signatures and approve the initiative for the ballot next fall.So I'm sure they will take ALL the time they have to count (make disappear) signatures. We WILL prevail though. I'm just so happy we got this far.

Thanks for the compliment FOM
I'm happy most of the time, unless I get too stressed out. I have anxiety but if you met me you probably wouldn't notice it. I'm really good at hiding it. But when I'm medicated right the anxiety nearly completely diminishes. And another thing I have learned to do when I get nervous or anxious, is too simply breathe. Take a deep breath or 2 every now and then and you'll notice it does seem to help a little bit. As crazy as it sounds, I think a lot of time I'm caught up in the moment and my mind is going so fast that i forget to breathe. Your friend seems like he was a pretty amazing guy. It's too bad he didn't make it back to get to see his daughter. Do you still talk to his wife?Glad to hear everyone had a good Thanksgiving! Happy Holidays C-News!

I remember sitting and talking with her for hours about her loss. We lived next door to each other in an apartment complex. When I met her the daughter was around a year old and later she met this kind man. Her heart was broken and he helped fix it. That's why I remember it all so well even after all these years. Here is something on the Scorpion.http://www.nationalgeographic.com/k19/disasters_detail1.html

I'm glad you liked his saying. He married a young woman I knew who had a little girl and just made their life full. She lost her husband on the Nuclear Submarine called the Scorpion many years ago when it never returned back to port in Norfolk VA and she was pregnant but he never got to see his daughter. This man made them very happy.

That is so cool!
"He told me that he doesn't go looking for a good time but takes a good time with him."It's very easy for me to be unhappy. Way too easy. And anyone can crash my happiness or joy with a word or a look. I'm learning to fight that and not allow it to happen when I can. There really is something to refusing how you know that harsh or idle words can make you feel. I try to refuse that downward spiral in how I feel, and just continue with and nourish the joy... because I believe that it is, indeed, God's will for us, that we should have joy. Joy is a fragile thing... but we can learn to hold it in our hearts in a protective, but loving way. Joy nourishes and sorrow diminishes. So joy is like a vitamin and medicine for the soul... and we should hold and cherish and appreciate it.

It seems like you had a wonderful holiday. I had a friend when I was young that was always happy and pleasant to be around. I asked him how can he be happy as often as he was. He told me that he doesn't go looking for a good time but takes a good time with him.You remind me of him.

Thanks you guys! I'm so happy to see these headlines. Everyone here in Michigan did such a great job on this and I'm quite impressed, although I knew we could get that amount. Our goal was 500,000 signatures and we came pretty close to that.M.C.C.C should also get a lot of credit for putting together such a good petition drive. There was a lot of money put into getting it this far. They had great communication with petitioners from start to end. Very nice, intelligent people with M triple C. But more credit should go to the die-hard petitioners that were out there doing all they could to round them up. I got what signatures I could, but there are a lot of local activists that went above and beyond. So I just want to thank everyone for doing their part in trying to make history in Michigan and the Midwest.

Happy Holidays Everyone!
I hope all of you had a good thanksgiving yesterday. I know I enjoyed my day. There's nothing like the aroma from all those different dishes and the turkey roasting in the oven. The one day of the year the nation gets watch my Detroit Lions on national T.V.(although they lose just about every year) We had the first snowfall that actually stuck to the ground, so the whole day really had that holiday feel to it. My family is so spread out that we don't really all get together anymore. So it was just me and Mom. And we made a meal for about 4 or 5 so we will have leftovers for days, I LOVE IT!Although my Sister, my niece, and my brother-in-law came here and visited for a few days from California. They were telling me all about their evacuation during the wildfires out there. They had pictures of a fire that was within 3 miles of her house. Thankfully they were alright and so was their house. But it was really nice to see them. My little niece is just starting to talk a little more now and she's walking here and there too. So I'm thankful for the time I got to spend with my family this thanksgiving, and I'm thankful for all of you here for all that you do.Happy Holidays C-News

Wow, I had forgotten that story about Colorado, with the hidden petitions in the desk, that came to light due to a politicians sudden death.
Whew! What a friggin drama. We must always remember; we are playing against the house, they have the deck stacked and they have no qualms about cheating.
Enough negative politician focus for the day. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
Peace and love.

Watch the petition count.
Very well done for this part of the process.Lots of work went into getting this far.Now do everything You can to help insure the petitions are counted fairly. When Colorado went through this process, the state did a big part in trying to stop it including mess with the count... It was a huge problem that took an additional election cycle to fix.In the end it went from Amendment 19 to Amendment 20 and it was then known as vote 4-20; because of the the Secretary of State who hid petitions in Her office desk that were discovered when She suddenly died.Watch the petition count.
