CBS -- Bob Barker had his cause. He signed off every "Price is Right" by saying: "help control the pet population, have your pet spayed or neutered." Now the new host of "The Price is Right," Drew Carey, has found a cause to call his own and it's a little more controversial than fixing your pets.
Carey expressed his support for medical marijuana in a video made for the Reason Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes libertarian principles. In the video, Carey tours a California pharmacy that sells medical marijuana, reports CBS News correspondent Meg Oliver. "Ah, smell that smell? It's the smell of freedom," he said on the video "Here I am in the backroom of the pharmacy, the medical marijuana dispensary, as you can see it's like a deli. It's all really out in the open, you can see what you're getting, and pay for it with your credit card." Under California law, people who suffer debilitating ailments ranging from chronic back pain to cancer are permitted to smoke pot provided they have a prescription from a physician. Carey doesn't smoke pot in the video and media critics say he doesn't have to worry about his career going up in smoke."Most of the audience sort of believes that most of the entertainers are a little bit out there and wacky anyway, the fact that he's advocating medical marijuana is actually a fairly reasonable stance that people in the medical community would be in favor of," Early Show entertainment contributor and People assistant managing editor Jess Cagle said. CBS and Fremantle Media, which produce "The Price is Right," declined to comment about the video. Clinical psychologist Dr. Jeff Guardine says the medical establishment is divided on the issue of medical marijuana. "For example, in 1999, the Institute of Medicine said, hey, listen, marijuana can be used to help people who have nausea and vomiting, which is a side effect of chemotherapy with cancer, people who have AIDS, a wasting disease, since it does stimulate appetite," he told Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen. "It's really helpful for them. And then the FDA says, hey, listen, we've seen all these studies and we don't believe that it helps in any way at all." Currently, medical marijuana is legal in 12 states and 300,000 people are using it for medicinal purposes, Guardine said. He said it is very easy, perhaps too easy, for a person to get a medical marijuana prescription because the doctor will believe everything he says. "So if you're saying you're having back problems or if you're having some nausea or what have you, you can get the prescription, go into one of these places and get your marijuana for medicinal purposes," he said. But Carey is certain that he is championing an important cause. "I think it's clear by now that the federal government needs to reclassify marijuana," he said in the video. "People that need it, should be able to get it, safely and easily." bee movie
saw it last sat -- man it was great-- Jerry said it took 4 years to make and it was ahead of its time.
60 minutes a few weeks back had a special on the fact that the bees are disapearing at huge numbers. No one has come up with the cause. In the 60 min story a family that has kept bees for over 50 years said he has never seen anything like this, they leave the hive and dont come back.

I hope that Drew Carey can brainstorm with Dreamworks and pitch the idea of how cannabis has helped and will continue to help this whole planet.
We are facing a Prohibition that needs to be examined in great detail. The need for green energy and green products are great. New fuels and plasticsWillie will have a part in the film for sure------along with hundreds of others to tell this epic tale of disgrace about a great plant let down by some of the human race.To unleash the needed ideas a storyboard is needed -- so while the writers are on strike -- please work together and come up with a animated version. Show the uses of cannabis and show its unlimited potential.

If I wasn't so darn stupid
I too could get federal monies or grants from certin corporate interest to conduct studies on cannabis. Gee, with a Phd. I would have the education needed to twist findings, get creative with the language and make science mean about anything I wanted it to mean. Instead, I have have to rely on common sense and historical knowlege. If I wasn't so darn stupid.

I smell the ...
I smell the Smell of Freedom as it's wafting through the airDispelling all mans ills and feelings of despairI see brothers and sisters all coming together and holding handsPartaking of the ancient herb from all across the landsItís the great equalizer you know, this magical weedFor it consumes our hate, our envy, ego and our greedIt joins us all, deep down, togetherBy enriching our lives and health with pleasureIt grows for us freely in either ditch or in a fieldAnd if you treat it with kindness it will increase for you its yieldIt can heal you, clothe you, feed you and even house you tooItís there for us to use and we should all know what to doThrow open your windows your shutters and doorsStand up and show them who you are and take to the floorLet the world and its people know that you think itís unfairFor others to stifle the Smell of Freedom in our air Graehstone
