Bush's "Drug Czar," will be in Shasta County, California this Thursday, July 12, 2007, to conduct a marijuana eradication site visit as well as to attend the kickoff of a Federal, State and local law enforcement marijuana eradication initiative, Operation Alesia, a three-tiered marijuana eradication initiative coordinated by the California National Guard's Counterdrug Taskforce and the Shasta County Sheriff's Office. "America's public lands are under attack," said Director John P. Walters. "Instead of being appreciated as national treasures, they are being exploited and destroyed by foreign drug trafficking organizations and heavily armed Mexican marijuana cartels who have turned them into ground zero for drug cultivation. These violent drug traffickers are endangering America's outdoor enthusiasts and sportsmen, and the sensitive ecosystems of our wilderness."Following the marijuana eradication site visit, Director Walters and officials with the United States Forest Service, the California National Guard, and the Shasta County Sheriff's Office will participate in a media availability, providing a briefing of Operation Alesia and the day's eradication activities. I guess this means the price of bud will go up by a dollar for ten minutes. They will NEVER be able to stop people from the pursit of altering reality. And with everyone being a hypocrit these days, someone on that eradication mission is a casual cannabis smoker. Bet they don't have to pee on a bottle either. Unnecessary Numbness [ Post Comment ] Comment #8 posted by rchandar on July 11, 2007 at 10:42:08 PT: OverwhelmSam Did you know that the UN issued a policy statement in 98 which had as its goal the eradication of all illegal drugs by 2008, by next year??? What miffs me most is it doesn't look like they're going to admit that they failed miserably to do so. It's as though their drafting of policy was written without any recognition of the facts, that in some sterilized place they completely ignored the real dynamics of the drug "problem." An organization such as this, pretending to speak for the people of the world, should be more forthright in confessing the reality of the situation, instead of pipe-dreaming a victory which will never come.--rchandar [ Post Comment ] Comment #7 posted by whig on July 11, 2007 at 02:30:26 PT Rethinking free speech for corporations http://tinyurl.com/238f7n [ Post Comment ] Comment #6 posted by whig on July 11, 2007 at 01:16:18 PT OverwhelmSam Shhh. Like they are blinded to massive movement which will preside over the disassembly of the drug hate machine. They go around and rub elbows with the UN and stroke local authorities and spend ungodly amounts of money all over the world, for nothing. [ Post Comment ] Comment #4 posted by museman on July 10, 2007 at 10:54:55 PT oh what a tangled web ... "America's public lands are under attack," Well that is a true statement - except for the 'public' part. What parts of our national forests are all these supposed grows being done? Why in the aftermath and devastation of clearcuts, and fires resulting from the eco-destruction of corporate greed and exploitation. Any grower knows that light is the most important factor in producing yield. Forests that have been left alone by the progeny of Hearst, Rockefeller, and their ilk, cannot provide enough clear space to grow a large crop like the ones they want to 'eradicate.'The likelihood that a high percentage of those grows are CIA (and DEA) supported (to provide the spin on WOD - "endangering America's outdoor enthusiasts and sportsmen, and the sensitive ecosystems of our wilderness" - and more excuse for the current draconian 'immigration' legislation) is very, very high. I live within a half days drive from these places, and have opportunity to converse with locals. They aren't under any illusions about who is doing what. Of course I'm not talking about the high-society types, I'm just referring to ordinary, 'common' people. These "foreign drug trafficking organizations and heavily armed Mexican marijuana cartels" have been supplied, tansported right up to harvest time (when the feds swoop in to get their years supply of bait for their street informers) by our own government. Quite a scam they got going; Blow up the WTC, and blame it on 'terrorists' so they can inflate the pockets of the oil magnates, and the munitions industry by warring here and there, as well as further curtail liberties that have been 'getting out of control' since the almost revolution of the '60's. So why not do the same thing in the WOD?Man what a tangled web of lies and deceit. The truth has become synonymous with a multitude of lies, and the handful of heroes we do have cannot keep up with it.One day people will stop trying to convince themselves in the validity of the failure of this system, and get busy on constructing a truly common-sense government Of the People, By the People, and For the People. I hope I live that long. When it is stated "These violent drug traffickers are endangering ... ... and the sensitive ecosystems of our wilderness", I'd like to know just how the ecosystem is taking a downfall from the plantation of Cannabis. What is also unreasonable this that "these violent drug traffickers" are being focused as "heavily armed Mexican marijuana cartels", I am quite sure that is not a valid statement as for they can not all possibly be Mexican. I sense a profound ignorance that has guided the history of Cannabis to the misconceived fate that exists inside of it today, as for that fateful day in 1937. [ Post Comment ] Comment #1 posted by dongenero on July 10, 2007 at 09:34:36 PT Walters and Bush = environmentalists? He hee .....endangering America's outdoor enthusiasts and sportsmen, and the sensitive ecosystems of our wilderness."How funny is that? To hear anyone in this administration speaking about environmentalism......as Jimmy Buffet said in Time magazine, "the next thing you look for is the bulldozers moving in."What a joke coming from this bunch. I've no doubt that armed cartels growing plots in the National and State forests is a dangerous situation. Claiming environmental concern is laughable though. Environmentalism is only considered by this administration if it somehow suits or spins other motives such as cronyism or lining supporters pockets. [ Post Comment ] Post Comment
