San Diego, CA -- Five people were arrested and 13 marijuana dispensaries were raided Thursday in an investigation into what authorities say was the manufacture and distribution of the drug under the guise of medicinal purposes. Federal officials unsealed two indictments Thursday morning after conducting undercover investigations at businesses suspected of illegally dispensing the drug, officials said.
The first indictment states that the operator of “The Purple Bud Room” on Garnet Avenue and of “Tender Holistics Care” or “THC,” illegally distributed marijuana. The second indictment mentions five individuals who owned and operated “Co-Op San Diego” and distributed marijuana and marijuana plants. The individuals are also suspected of growing marijuana plants at various homes in San Diego to support their operations. Four doctors are also being investigated on suspicion of selling medical marijuana recommendations for people who officials said did not legitimately need the drug. Federal and state officials have reported the doctors to the state Medical Board in a complaint letter. The board is responsible for taking action against the doctors and is investigating their conduct, officials said. At least five individuals suspected of selling the drug were arrested Thursday, and more arrests are expected, said Damon Musler, chief of the District Attorney's Office Narcotics Division. Officials said patients involved in the sales will not be arrested. The investigation was conducted by both local and federal officials. San Diego Police Chief William Lansdowne said officers received hundreds of complaints in the past 18 months about burglaries, assaults and armed robberies in areas near the dispensaries. During the investigation, undercover officers were able to talk to several doctors and obtain open-ended marijuana prescriptions based on vague complaints of illnesses, District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis said. The officers were then able to buy marijuana several times at the dispensaries. At some of the locations, she said, the marijuana was packaged into cookies and candy bars. The District Attorney filed charges of illegal marijuana sales against five of the dispensaries that were searched. They are: Ocean Beach Dispensary and Utopia, both on Voltaire Street in Ocean Beach Native Sun Dispensary on Rosecrans Street, in the Midway District THC Dispensary, no longer in business, in Pacific Beach The California Medical Center, on La Jolla Boulevard in La Jolla. “Our office has no intention of stopping those who are chronically ill with AIDS, glaucoma and cancer from obtaining any legally prescribed drug, including medical marijuana, to help them ease their pain,” Dumanis said. But the law that allows for the use of medical marijuana in the state is “being severely abused and it has led to the neighborhood pot dealer opening up storefronts from La Jolla to Ocean Beach to North Park,” she said. No matter how bad things are life is worth living. Bad things always pass and we need to bite the bullet thru it. My grandfather blew his brains out and it really was devastating for my grandmother and mother. When my son was diagnosed with HIV I went off the deep end but I am happy now that I am still here even though death for me would have been a blessing at that time. I would never have met you and all the good people here on CNews. I try now to always look for the silver lining in any situation. Hold you head high!

Graehstone....
the coinciding of the protest from these insane raids and the anniversary of steve's passing....you are paying him fitting tribute, as he would want. i very clearly remember when i learned of his suicide - i was in the hospital recovering from a failed attempt to hang myself. it really made me question why i survived and steve did not - on his 50th birthday, if i remember correctly.
now i'm 49 and a half. i know how badly i want this fight to be won for our side....i also know how weary and tired and sick and frustrated i have become in this year i would not have been here. maybe we got a little progress, maybe a step or two back....
it grieves me deeply to think people are being forced to accept either pain, prosecution and suffering or choose to give up this existence.
may he rest in peace and love, and carry on forever in the hearts of those whom he touched with his.you are all in my thoughts and prayers,

He really is not a smart person. He is very crude and offensive. He thinks he is so much better then almost everyone. How did anyone think he was better then Kerry or Gore? I want a president that is intelligent and knows how to talk and represent us. I don't think I am asking too much. I guess only eternity will answer that question for me.

one more note
Another example of flaming doublethink is mocking the severity of cannabis-requiring ailments. "I have a little trouble sleeping at night" "My back is a little stiff". These are EXCELLENT times to use cannabis! Much safer for you than almost all prescription and over-the-counter drugs for these problems. But, it's the larger context that makes this mockery especially absurd. We're in a country of 300 million people, and there are 6 million children on Ritaline alone! And countless others on Prozac, Zoloft, and other meth-analog stimulants! How many adults are on SSRI anti-depressants, that can cause suicide and alter the brain for 24 hours a day, 365 days per year? Tens of millions of adults are taking them, most because they went to the doctor and said "I'm feeling a little sad after my divorce, can you give me something to make me a little happier" "I have to work so many hours that I never see my family, I'm sad, can you give me something?" Sure, ma'am, here, take this drug for the rest of your life. The armed thugs aren't banging their doors in, are they? Where's the Prozac scandal? Where are the narcs infiltrating psychologists' offices?

Southern CA
We can see here that Southern CA was settle by mostly "conservative" Midwesterners after World War II, as opposed to the people from the Northeast that moved to Northern CA.To the question, are there abuses? The answer is OBVIOUSLY yes. Of course there will be scammers and lying patients. Recently in CA I saw two phone books, the back of one had an ad that screamed "call 1 800 POT DOCS". But the other book at an identical ad that screamed "call 1 800 PAIN DOCS" for the guys that hand out opiate prescriptions. These raids are the equivalent breaking in the door of Walgreens with a battering ram, arresting the store owner and employees, and seizing all the pain killers in stock because a few addicts bought their pills there. The doctor in the videotape is 100% right, cannabis is FAR safer than Tylenol. The use of his statement and mocking it is an example that demonstrates how thorough the brainwashing in the USA is - doublethink is happening constanly in most people's minds! Thousands of people are killed by Tylenol, or have their livers destroyed by it, or worse.Look at this:"Acetaminophen-containing products (Tylenol, Midol, Alka-Seltzer Plus, Vanquish, etc.) result in over 100,000 calls a year to poison control centers, 560,000 visits to emergency facilities, 260,000 hospitalizations, and 450 deaths. From 1996 to 1998 the average annual deaths directly attributed to acetaminophen averaged approximately 458. I wonder what the regulatory agencies would do if a supplement were to kill 450 people a year?"http://altmedangel.com/asthma.htmOf course cannabis is safe for the dog! Especially good for canine arthritis. In one study, cannabis oil was injected into the jugular vein of a dog - the equivalent of hundreds of pounds - and the dog merely slept for 3 days straight.Rimadyl is a deadly prescription NSAID given to thousands of dogs that has also killed thousands of them through side effects:Food & Drug Administration/Center for Veterinary Medicine reports of deaths associated with Rimadyl (Carprofen) -- cumulative:May 1, 2003 - 2,133 dogs have died
June 4, 2003 - 2,153 dogs have died
July 8, 2003 - 2,182 dogs have diedPrevious annual reports of deaths associated with Rimadyl (Carprofen):Year 1997: 195 dogs
Year 1998: 456 dogs
Year 1999: 371 dogs
Year 2000: 470 dogs
Year 2001: 537 dogs

It's really sick!
People went in to see doctors with the intent of lying in order to receive a recommendation of medical cannabis, and it's the doctors who were deceived by professional liars who are the perceived criminals.Lying to a doctor in order to get medicine of any kind is wrong, but the guilty party is clearly the liar themselves. Then the liars proceed to a compassion club and purchase their cannabis with the recommendation they've received by lying to the doctor, but somehow the compassion club becomes the second guilty party for selling cannabis to the liars. The liars get promotions, even though they're the only real guilty parties involved, and now they want to shut down the doctors and compassion clubs who were set up and duped by the professional liars who lied with the precise intent of shutting these people down. It's a sneaky, underhanded, slimy, scuzzy, scummy and evil waste of taxpayer dollars and limited law enforcement resources. It's really sick! The Reverend Bud Green

10News Exposes 'Marijuana Doctors'
Doctors Offer Legal PotJuly 6, 2006Video: http://www.10news.com/news/9480300/detail.htmlSAN DIEGO -- Proposition 215 -- the medical marijuana initiative approved by voters ten years ago, has been subverted, abused and misused say law enforcement agencies our I-Team has spoken with.Prop. 215 is supposed to provide seriously ill people access to marijuana to help relieve their pain but a 10News investigation discovered just about anyone can get pot legally if they want.10 News became interested in medical marijuana after seeing a large number of advertisements for doctors prescribing pot. These pot docs’ ads appear every week in the San Diego Reader.Discussions with 10News sources both in and out of law enforcement seemed to confirm a disturbing pattern of increasing sales by the pot docs as well as an increase in the number of distributors for the medical marijuana.
This launched a two-month 10News investigation into exactly what was going on. We used staff members to go into doctor's office and see how difficult it was to get a referral for pot. It was very easy. Too easy in fact, say law enforcement sources. It turned out both federal and local agencies are also looking into the process. The 10News I-Team was able to acquire some government survelliance tapes used to document how different doctors would discuss with patients the benefits of marijuana. One shows an undercover officer and a Dr. Robert Steiner, discussing pot."I assure you Tylenol is more of a risk to you and a hazard than is cannabis," said Dr. Robert Steiner.Steiner was doing one of his "legitimate and affordable" medical marijuana evaluations as advertised in the Reader."It's open drug dealing with legitimacy," said Deputy District Attorney Dana Greisen.Greisen said doctors are recommending marijuana to just about anyone who can afford a doctor's visit."It's being recommended for insomnia, depression (and) anxiety," said Greisen."The law is being abused in a massive scale," said Greisen. The people using the marijuana aren't suffering from cancer, AIDS or other serious illnesses, which Proposition 215 is supposed to address. It was approved by voters to "ensure that seriously ill Californians have the right to use marijuana for medical purposes."Dr. Steiner claimed no downsides to using marijuana on the law enforcement video."We have two convincing studies that cannabis does not cause lung cancer. Cannabis regenerates brain cells," said Steiner. The undercover agent then asked if he could also get pot for his dog. "He's got arthritis. He whines at night because of the pain," said the undercover agent."Again, it is perfectly acceptable for pups," said Steiner.Dr. Alfonso Jimenez has a Web site -- Medical Marijuana of San Diego -- where patients can register for his services online. What happened when we sent our testers in?"He was just laid-back and friendly. (He) didn't really seem to worry about if he was giving me this for the right reasons or not," said tester number one. He went to Jimenez for back pain he doesn't have. He got his referral and could have purchased pot legally. 10News never did purchase any marijuana even after the doctor's approval."There's a line behind me coming out of the door," said tester number one.DDA Greisen said it's all about the money."We had a doctor recently (who) testified he gave out about 2,000 recommendations in last year -- that's what he testified to in court -- at $230 approximately. You do the math -- that's $500,000 in cash," said Greisen.Greisen said most office calls are paid for in cash. That's what another 10News employee had to do.He paid $125 to have Steiner recommend marijuana for his "sleeping problems.""They just let me in the office. (They) kind of started giving me all these facts about medical marijuana before they even knew what was wrong with me," said tester number two.Tester two would get his marijuana if he went to another doctor first to document his condition."He (Dr. Sterner) referred me to a doctor who would have me in and out real quickly. I could come right back, (and) he would be able to sign off on the recommendation.Once people get their recommendations, 10News discovered there's no limit or control as to how much marijuana they can buy from storefronts called dispensaries.Legal Loophole?
You don't have to suffer from a serious illness to buy medical marijuana from dispensers.10News investigators were able to get approval for marijuana from two doctors -- Dr. Robert Sterner, who has an office near Lindbergh Field, and Dr. Alfonso Jimenez in downtown San Diego."They got me through pretty quick," said tester number one, a 10News employee. With a recommendation from a doctor, the staffers would be able to get marijuana that is sold at dispensaries across San Diego County.Tester number two, another 10News employee, was sent into the doctor's offices and said, "I went to two different places, and within thirty minutes I got some (referrals). It seemed pretty easy."These marijuana recommendations can be filled at twenty different storefronts selling pot, and unlike a regular prescriptions, a patient can use the recommendations more than once."A pattern is developing. Patients get recommendations," said Dep. District Attorney Dana Greisen. These recommendations are like a blank check.According to 10News findings, one person received a recommendation with permission to grow 75 marijuana plants. Each plant has the street value of $1,000.The same person received permission to purchase five pounds of marijuana. With that amount, a person can smoke a joint every two hours for 24 hours a day and seven days a week, taking more than a year to go through all of that marijuana.Dr. Larry Pohl said what some of his colleagues are doing is not proper medicine. He said patients sometimes need lab work, X-rays or meetings with specialists.Pohl said marijuana is not a cure-all."It's definitely not consistent with standard medical care," said Pohl.Dr. Jimenez has several offices and we talked to him by phone at his Hawaii location, he told 10News that he only provides a referral for patients with medical illnesses.Jimenez's operates a Web site MedicalMarijuanaOfSanDiego.com.When 10News visited Dr. Sterner, he explained he had to see patients and closed his office door. But there is another loophole in the system, called the primary care giver form.Taking Advantage Of Proposition 215
"It is a legalization of marijuana. It's going to encourage drug use," said San Diego County Sheriff Bill Kolender."It is going to be helping people who are really sick and need a medicine that has been used for 5,000 years," said one Proposition 215 supporter. These were two very different predictions made 10 years ago after Prop. 215 was approved by Californians.Kolender was right, if you ask Dep. District Attorney Dana Greisen."Over the last year, we saw a proliferation of these recommendations," said Greisen. He says just about anyone can get marijuana. And to make matters worse, he says, doctors hand out blank primary caregiver forms. These forms allow patients to list anyone they want to be a caregiver. It allows this person to purchase or grow marijuana for them.10News Investigations sent in two staffers to check Greisen's claims. And it was as the assistant district attorney had claimed. Our staffers were given blank caregiver forms.10News learned that one person named his dog as a caregiver. As part of the investigation, 10News nominated a bird named Riggo as a caregiver."The doctors -- because they're giving it to so many people -- are basically legalizing marijuana one doctor and patient at a time," said Greisen. hypothetical....
The officers entered the store and found shelf after shelf of the deadly poison "alcohol". Gallons and gallons and gallons, enough of the deadly drug to kill hundreds if all injested at once. Some of the deadly drug was even packages as sweet tasting, almost like candy flavoring of this alcohol poison. There were brews flavored with berries and fruits, same with the wines. The vodkas taste great to young folks with their peach flavorings and cherry and orange. All great flavors in all poisonous potions.

When, oh when, will we ever see some reason in this country pertaining to a beneficial medicinal herb called marijuana? Probably not in my lifetime. The powers that want it illegal are just too strong, and there is just too much money to be made by keeping it illegal.
How truly sad for so many. Jail is designed for criminals, and now it's just a mega-warehouse for the unlucky people caught up in this war on some drugs.
Sure looks like a good time to move while I'm still free, and off probation, and I have my passport.

did I miss something here?
Did this sound strangely contradictory to anyone else, or am I just high?--"Five people were arrested and 13 marijuana dispensaries were raided Thursday in an investigation into what authorities say was the manufacture and distribution of the drug under the guise of medicinal purposes."--“Our office has no intention of stopping those who are chronically ill with AIDS, glaucoma and cancer from obtaining any legally prescribed drug, including medical marijuana, to help them ease their pain,” Dumanis said.If they have no intention of stopping the chronically ill, why did they raid THIRTEEN shops? If they care so much about patients' rights, are they going to give them the seized marijuana themselves? Spare me...Anyone who knows please give me a clear answer, because I've never been to California. Is abuse of the MMJ law really THAT prevalent? Do they need to be so blatant in order to cut down on abuse, or is this just an underhanded way of bypassing Prop 215? If it's the latter, then it basically means that any MMJ legislation that's ever passed can be subverted. I mean come on, how can they dispense MMJ without 'distributing' it? And we know that someone has to 'manufacture' it...it doesn't just grow in the alleyway (anymore). And remember...it's all to PROTECT us, because criminals are operating 'under the guise of medicinal purposes.' Lord have mercy!! Protect us all, please, by locking us in prison. A spoonful of sugar helps the 'medicine' go down... sometimes they can make it sound so sweet.

But any pharmacy in america has REAL medicine that you remove the foil and you stick up your butt and also liquid that you inject into your veins with hollowed-out needles. They also flavor the "medicine" in pharmacies like candy so the kiddies will take it.This is the reason they avoid debates at all costs. The Reverend Bud Green
