Windsor, Ontario -- Canada's failure to change its marijuana laws as ordered by an earlier court ruling caused a judge to drop a possession charge against a 16-year-old boy Thursday. The case amounts to a challenge to the validity of the Canadian law that makes possession of marijuana illegal.
Lawyer Brian McAllister argued in court that the federal government never reworked its marijuana laws despite the 2000 Ontario court ruling that it should make medicinal marijuana available to legitimate patients. Instead of writing new laws, the government passed regulations to create a medical marijuana system. McAllister argued that the situation means Canada effectively has no law prohibiting possession of about an ounce or less of marijuana. Justice Douglas Phillips agreed, dropping the charges against the youth, who cannot be named because of his age. While the ruling involves only one case, it signals further momentum toward the possible decriminalization of possession of small amounts of marijuana in Canada. Two Parliament committees have recommended eliminating or easing laws against marijuana possession. Justice Minister Martin Cauchon says he will introduce legislation in upcoming months to make possession of small amounts of pot similar to a traffic violation, punishable by a fine with no criminal record. U.S. officials oppose any moves by Canada toward greater leniency, warning of tighter border controls to combat increased smuggling. Eight U.S. states have taken some kind of step toward permitting the medicinal use of marijuana. The U.S. Supreme Court, however, has ruled there is no exception in federal law for people to use marijuana, so even those with tolerant state laws could face arrest if they do. Las Vegas Review-Journal no MJ match here
Hello Fellow Extremist Cannabis Tribesmen of respected territories. I did a search this morning for marijuana in the reviewjournal for Law Vegas and other markets, my search results nothing found here. Gee, I wonder where government conspiracies come from when there is such a huge attempt from "private" companies to "educate" the Americans, properly. I guess all my paranoia about my government suppressing relevant information for Nevdans who are for Responsible Law Enforcement is not justified and completlely uncalled for. I see the error of my ways and now agree to take all those anti-telepathic-anti-paranoia-Blockaider pills, oh well too bad I'm broke guess I'll just have to smoke some Medical marijuana and "halucinate" about marijuana being legal in AmeriKa.

Special Message on back of Natinal Drivers License
I would like mine to also read that I fully comply with the Cannadian Charter of rights and should be extended to me under special "diplomatic" immunity as my father is a Cannadian Citizen currently living in Surrey, B.C. and would "appreciate" any legal protections offered under America's right to pursuit happiness.

USA Today did not have anything either
I would have thought there a chance that USA Today would have the article up. They did use marijuana one time as in marijuana charge talking about a police killing in Arkansas where the guy had a previous marijuna charge. The American propaganda machine is the best in history. I guess these guys take a lot of pride in that.

Another crack in the wall of prohibition
I have high hopes for Canada. Expect some anti type babble in the coming days. Perhaps the drug czar will buy some air time up there like he did here. Not!!!

Article To Check Out If You Want
Hi Everyone,Here is an article that I will post on the front page when I find the date of publication. I haven't found it on CNSNews.com yet to confirm but you can go ahead and read it this way.Pro-Marijuana Group Mounts New Offensive Against US Drug PolicyJim Burns, Senior Staff Writer(CNSNews.com) - A group supporting the legalization of marijuana is planning a new Internet offensive against the Bush administration after an administration official alleged that marijuana-related hospital emergency room visits are way up.Scott Burns, deputy director for state and local affairs for the White House Office of National Drug Control, said in a letter to the National District Attorneys' Association that "marijuana is not harmless but has risen as a factor in emergency room visits 176 percent since 1964, surpassing heroin."He said district attorneys, county prosecutors and other law enforcement officials must better educate the public about the drug's danger.Complete Article: http://www.crosswalk.com/news/1179135.html

Thank you for searching and keeping tabs on all of this. It says alot after it is all said and done. When I went to MSNBC and CNN Chat's years ago before CNews I wanted to see which web site broke news of interest first. It was eye opening and helped me to see how much opinions on issues swayed between the two web sites. Now we have many web sites to check and see.

Checking the newspapers starting at 12:30AM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has nothing. The last article for the word "marijuana" was the crap that was posted here at Cnews for an article released 12/30.The search engine at the Boston Globe had no results for marijuana- http://www.boston.com/globe/#search12:37 The Miami Herald- http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/ I sure did not find anything here12:42 Philadelpia Inquirer- http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/- No luck with the Canada story but they did have an article titled "Wilmington sees huge increase in heroin sales"-
http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/local/4855823.htm12:47 Christian Science Monitor- http://www.csmonitor.com/ Not a chance12:50 Baltimore Sun - http://www.sunspot.net/news/ - No results hereWell, having examined the interest of the best newspapers in the country, it is obvious that if you think the Canadian story on the leak in the cannabis dam is important, you do not know what important is. I thought it was a big deal, but I am obviously an Extremist.

London Times online
I was checking http://www.timesonline.co.uk/ about the Canada news. It did have an article about the pill companies and their desire for huge profits in an article titled "Are drug firms turning that bedtime headache into an excuse for profits?" by Nigel Hawkes, Health Editor. The intro line says it all- Drug companies have come under fire for trying to invent a new disease, female sexual dysfunction, in order to generate Viagra-sized profits from curing it

NATIONAL DRIVERS LICENSE
I strongly support a National Drivers License. The cops today make a big "fuse" to do if you are from another state and even enjoy on picking on out of towners. Give me license plates and drivers license that says I am to be treated like an American Citizen. I further request that a "special message" on the back of the card to pertain any legal information said American citizen wants. For example, I would like mine to read, I do not consent to anykind of verbal or written consent to search anything. If a "written document" states that I would give "consent" it is to be interpreted as a duress signal, Covert translation meaning = I am under attack and fear for my life and safety of everyone around me. Please do not contact me for any reason unless through snail mail.

Off subject poll, yet it is kind of connected.
Congress will be debating a national identification card. Should there be one?

P.S. again
I wish there were an edit feature also because I almost always need to change what my fingers shoot out. I was going to respond to this thread in comment2 by saying I checked out the NY Times website in anticipation of a breach of cannabis silence. The Canadian story is not up yet if ever at all, but there was an article talking about the delay of generic pills because of a selection of words. This article os titled "Label Issues Are Delaying Generic Drugs"- http://www.nytimes.com/2003/01/03/business/03DRUG.html It is revealing of the corporate influence of the regulators. It is like the regulatorees are regulating the regulators. It includes this paragraph which might reveal a clue as to why the generic has been held off the market for 6 months:
"Rebetol is $10 a capsule for a drug that we believe costs 10 cents to make," said Brian D. Klein, the co-founder of the Hepatitis C Action and Advocacy Coalition.

Yes, Dr. Russo, we need to spread the words
I put the link at Cnews up at the messageboard I have staked out. My big thing that I have used to present cannabis news and cannabisnews.com is the media. For the tag line I might say, "Was this in the (Charlotte) Observer?" Of course nothing cannabis is all but formally banned as a subject in American conglomerate newspapers including the Knight-Rider chain. The media is my thing about like Observer talks about the subject of jails for using cannabis. Please find a messageboard and use our best tool and blanket the web messageboards with news that the conglomerate media distains. There was an article of great interest titled, "Bush's Master Plan for the Internet" by KURT NIMMO at http://www.counterpunch.org/nimmo01022003.htmlOne other link of interest quotes Robert Redford saying,"Nearly every statement that comes from this administration includes the phrase "The American people." Every time I hear that phrase I just substitute "industrial interests." It cites the December 8th, 2002 New York Times and list some quotes that really make the statement ring true- http://www.motherjones.com/commentary/columns/2002/52/we_245_01.htmlHas anyone heard about the detention centers lately they want to put us people that still believe in the Constitution in once the fascist have their ducks in a row?

Now There Will Be No Excuse
Here is the story on the AP, available to every newspaper and TV news agency in the USA. Let's see how many outlets carry the story. It should provide some measure of the degree of censorship operative in a given market. It would help for every CNews denizen to pass this along.
