A campaigner for the legalisation of cannabis arrested after attempting to open Britain's first Dutch-style cafe has been released without charge. Colin Davies, 44, was quizzed by detectives on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply following his arrest at The Dutch Experience cafe, in Stockport, Greater Manchester.Mr Davies, who has smoked the drug to relieve pain since he broke his spine four years ago, was involved in scuffles with uniformed officers before being led away by undercover detectives.
He was questioned at Stockport Police Station when he was released on police bail without charge.Another man and four Dutch people - three men and a woman - were also arrested on suspicion of being concerned with the supply of a Class B drug. They have also been released on police bail.A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "Some substances have been seized and will undergo forensic examination."Mr Davies said after his release he was "disgusted" with the police's handling of the situation."I had the door rammed into me," he said. "I was being dragged one way and then another. My back is black and blue, my arm was also trapped and it felt like it was broken."He said the cafe was open again, but would not be selling cannabis or allowing the drug to be smoked on its premises.Dozens of people from across the country turned up for the opening of the cafe. Its aim was to sell cannabis at a cheaper rate to ill people who say it helps relieve symptoms.Source: London Evening Standard (UK)Published: September 16, 2001Copyright: 2001 Associated Newspapers Ltd.Contact: letters standard.co.ukWebsite: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/Related Articles & Web Site:The Dutch Experiencehttp://www.dutchexperience.orgMelee as Cannabis Cafe Openshttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread10915.shtmlDutch-Style Cannabis Cafe Opens in Britain http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread10914.shtmlPolice Vow To Close Amsterdam Soft Drug Café http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread10875.shtml

Warnings
"I had the door rammed into me," he said. "I was being dragged one way and then another. My back is black and blue, my arm was also trapped and it felt like it was broken."He said the cafe was open again, but would not be selling cannabis or allowing the drug to be smoked on its premises.I believe the black and blues were a warning, but very bad taste to injure a sick people. On another note:If the US attacks Afghanistan it will be falling into a trap. The innocent deaths won't make up for the death here, it'll create more hate for America by more innocent peoples. More hate for their enemy you'll see is the goal of these evil people that attacked NY and DC.

A damn shame
I cannot believe that Alchohal and cigarettes remain legal....and Marijuana which is more benign and has proven medical benefits remains illegal and shrouded in so much propaganda and politics. Shame on all of those groups or individuals who work to keep marijuana illegal. The same feelings are directed towards those responsible for uprooting, arresting and convicting people who believe this plant has medical and magical powers. Your ignorance will someday be judged by your creator. Many sick and dying people who could have benefited from marijuana suffer from your ignorance. May their blood be cast upon your day of judgment. Arrest those who conspire to keep marijuana illegal. These peope are the enemy...These people are responsible for Anti-Democracy, Anti-Americanism. We the People spoke...It is time for you to wake up and listen. We voted, you continue to deny us what we want. Imagine a world where marijauna is smoked openly and freely like cigarettes. I can assure you it would be a more friendly and less dangerous world. PEACE
