Authorities said Friday that more marijuana was found growing on the slopes of Palomar Mountain, bringing the total number of plants uprooted at the remote site to more than 100,000.The bust was by far the largest in the 22-year history of the county's eradication efforts and is the largest marijuana farm found in California so far this year, said San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. Bill Baxter.
No arrests have been made. Several people fled the area when sheriff's deputies first entered the area July 9 and officers were unable to give chase over the rugged terrain.Laborers had been tending the site since early May and the plants had reached an average height of three feet, Baxter said.Members of the San Diego County Marijuana Eradication Team found some 46,000 plants two weeks ago. A short distance away, 56,000 more plants were found this week. The marijuana was growing in terraced rows under cover of the area's thick trees and brush and was being watered with gravity-fed drip lines. The terrain, about 75 miles northeast of San Diego, was so rough that it took officers hours to reach the area, Baxter said. The county's Marijuana Eradication Team, comprised of city, county and federal officers, discovered the site with the help of a police helicopter. The plants were taken to a secure location. They will be burned later in the year, Baxter said.Complete Title: Total Uprooted From Remote Mountain Site Rises To 100,000Source: Press-Enterprise (CA)Published: Friday, July 20, 2001 Copyright: 2001 The Press-Enterprise CompanyContact: letters pe.comComments: feedback inlandempireonline.comWebsite: http://www.inlandempireonline.com/Related Articles:Major Pot Find on Palomar Mountain was Discovered http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread10304.shtmlSheriff's Deputies Uproot More Than 46,000 Plants http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread10284.shtmlPatton of Pot - 60 Minutes IIhttp://cannabisnews.com/news/thread8656.shtml

Is this unnatural?
One simple question- how can the government pass laws, which makes it illegal for certain species to live? Shall we just exteminate anything offensive of even annoying. Send the cops after poison oak or ivy; at least they do hurt. And what determines marijauana? If it were slightly genetically altered, would it still be illegal? Does the majority or society even look down upon cannabis, or are they even concerned anymore? The time has come for legislators to stop and ask themselves who they are protecting.Prohibition didn't work in the 20s, when will the government learn?

pay your respects
A moment of silence please. As we mourn the loss of some delightfully pungent, and robust plants.I have a kindof a problem believing that all the cops who bust these places, dont have the irresistableurge to enjoy this herb. Just imagine the dazzleingly pleasant wafting,of the rich and splendid smellof 500 lush ,mature plants, with giant buds that exude marvelous aromas...how could they resist? You gotta be mighty square to never have tried a hit of weed.

too many doughnuts...
"Authorities said Friday that more marijuana was found growing on the slopes of Palomar Mountain, bringing the total number of plants uprooted at the remote site to more than 100,000.The bust was by far the largest in the 22-year history of the county's eradication efforts and is the largest marijuana farm found in California so far this year, said San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. Bill Baxter."I am really not sure how to feel about this article. True, I think it is sad that so many of our weedy brethen [forgive the patriarchal reference] had to give up their lives in the face of these murderous savages. I think my overriding emotion here is anger, however. maybe not over the killing of so many plants, but rather that so much time and effort has been wasted to eliminate so relatively few plants. Time = money in this crazy world and 22 years of hunting plants is a lot of time = $$$. As for the number of plants, consider the thousands of America's youth that are cultivating perhaps 5 or 6 plants in their closets and backyards every year and the dozens [probably more] of pros that grow on scales similar to that in the story. Soon, 100,000 plants becomes a drop in the bowl. Can't these people realize the futility of their efforts? Stop wasting the money of U.S. citizens. Why is the public convinced that destroying a few harmless plants is more important than catching REAL violent criminals?"No arrests have been made. Several people fled the area when sheriff's deputies first entered the area July 9 and officers were unable to give chase over the rugged terrain."They fled. Boy, that really tells ya how violent these crazy drug fiends are. Oh, and maybe these police fellows should try chewing coca leaves instead of doughnuts [if they can stereotype drug users then I will stereotype them. Turnabout is fair play; after all, this is war, isn't it? 'snicker']. I heard that the Incas [right? my his-tor-ee learnin' is a bit foggy. I reckon a drunk, whore-mongering teacher was not a good in-struc-tor. don't laugh, it's true... he got caught picking up an undercover cop and came to work smellin of booze... but I digress] ...really found a bit of pulped coca to be a real boost when you need to get over some tall rocks."Laborers had been tending the site since early May and the plants had reached an average height of three feet, Baxter said."Too young to die. What a shame."Members of the San Diego County Marijuana Eradication Team found some 46,000 plants two weeks ago. A short distance away, 56,000 more plants were found this week."San Diego County Marijuana Eradication Team - SDCMET - boy, that acronym just doesn't work. Maybe "TEAM for the ERADICATION of MARIJUANA in the COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO - TEMCOSD". That's a little better... who am I kidding- these boneheads have to much time on their hands. Why isn't "FASCISTS for UNEARTHING the CANNABIS KIND, the EARTH'S REMEDY for STRESS", sufficient?"The marijuana was growing in terraced rows under cover of the area's thick trees and brush and was being watered with gravity-fed drip lines. The terrain, about 75 miles northeast of San Diego, was so rough that it took officers hours to reach the area, Baxter said. The county's Marijuana Eradication Team, comprised of city, county and federal officers, discovered the site with the help of a police helicopter."These growers cared. Remote locale, terracing to curb erosion, a good watering scheme. People have no appreciation for the time and effort the growers put in. I really believe that; I'm not trying to be flip. As if we're supposed to be impressed that it took untold hours (and $$$) of helicopter time and however many hours to find some weeds and yank them out of the dirt. Wouldn't that time and money been better used nailing crack dealers selling rocks to kids on the schoolyard 75 miles back in town. Or carjackers or crooks or rapists or something? [I don't know San Diego very well. I'm stuck in the clutches of the midwest- yee hah.] Speaking of which, as farmers are forced to sell out to big corporations perhaps they could find work with SDCME! Our farmers are great at eliminating weeds! The guv'ment should be more than willing to supply the proper toxins and equipment. I'm not saying farmers are bad, just that the guv'ment perpetuates the need for farmers to overstress the soil with chemicals and a lack of crop rotation by giving them subsidies to make up for lackluster profits in an overregulated ag market. i.e. "grow lots o corn cuz we need it (not) and we'll pay you to use as many resources as possible" What's guy to do when that is the only money he can get for toiling in the fields. BTW, never call farmers lazy, they don't like it and well, it is hard work for relatively meager profit- you wouldn't believe the taxes these dudes have to pay- it's shameful... but I digress, again.I'm just thinking if SDCMET insists on wasting money, they should at least make the effort to do it right and use people that have expertise in the area of weed removal. Sorry about that last bit... kind of a warped attempt at half humor. I am angry that SDCMET even exists, but I am also angry that the public is brainwashed into rooting for this blatant waste of manpower. I thought cops were trained to take on hostile criminals- I mean imagine this exchange the next time you're high- Cop: "I said freeze weed plant!"Weed Plant: "What the hell do you want from me, I'm a plant!"Cop: "Get down on the ground! Now a__hole!"Weed Plant: "Jesus! I'm a plant, man! I can't! Don't hurt me, man!"Cop: [shoots] blam! blam! blam!Cop: [to buddy] I was arresting the guy for... "1).Conspiracy to use drugs.2).Illegal purchase of drugs3).Knowledge of drugs4).Knowledge of others doing drugs, and not reporting it5).Possesion of Illegal Attitudes6).Wrongful and Malicious use of Self7).Causing bodily injury to self, and then coming within 500 feet of a school8).Past Use of Drugs that Offender never got busted for"[thanx dddd!]...when he assaulted me with a fragrant yet musky aroma. The guy wouldn't cooperate and he was definitely a menace, so I had to put him down."'snicker'"The plants were taken to a secure location. They will be burned later in the year, Baxter said."Sure, once it's cured properly... maybe that would explain the doughnuts.peace.
