We blame other countries and it's our problem!

A senior Panamanian congressman blasted the United States on Monday for including his country in a blacklist of nations that were failing to fight the drugs trade!

The United States was motivated to include Panama on its list because of the failure of bilateral talks to set up a multilateral anti-drugs center in Panama, Alberto Aleman Boyd, head of the Panamanian Congress Anti-Drug Committee, said on Monday.

He said the U.S. decision announced this weekend was "arbitrary" and contrary to evidence that Panama had implemented an anti-drugs policy.

In 1997, Panamanian authorities seized 14.2 tons of marijuana, and this year had confiscated about two tons of cocaine sent by Colombian cartels to the U.S. and European markets, he said.

In the past four years, Panama's narcotics police seized over 74 tons of drugs, mostly cocaine and marijuana, sending nearly 400 traffickers to jail.
