Federal Court Vetoes Marijuana For Dying Mom

medical Washington, DC -- A wiser man than I once wondered whether stiffer sentences for suicide bombers might reduce the number of terrorists who blow themselves up.

With that perhaps in mind, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled, Wednesday, that even if doctors say marijuana is the only thing keeping you alive, it is still illegal for you to smoke it.

The case was brought by Angel Raich, an Oakland mother of two who suffers "from at least 10 serious medical conditions, including an inoperable brain tumor, a seizure disorder, life-threatening weight loss," scoliosis and chronic nausea. The 41-year-old had sought an injunction to prevent the government from prosecuting her for using marijuana, without which, her doctors say, she would starve to death. But according the decision "Federal law does not recognize a fundamental right to use medical marijuana prescribed by a licensed physician to alleviate excruciating pain and human suffering."

After learning the verdict, she began sobbing and said she would continue taking the drug. "I'm sure not going to let them kill me. Oh God!" And, however indirectly, that seems to be exactly what this decision will do. As one physician put it, Raich would "probably be dead without marijuana.'' And since marijuana is classified as a schedule 1 drug (no currently accepted medical use) it is legal for her doctors to prescribe her near lethal doses of morphine, but illegal for them to give her a pot brownie. Now, obviously our Government has strict procedures for changing laws (however ludicrous they may be), but given Raich's condition it seems so draconian not to make an exception.

Note: A Terminal Illness Is No Excuse For Smoking Pot.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
Here's something I like. I'm a quarter Irish and love these sayings.

**

Always remember to forget,

The things that made you sad.

But never forget to remember,

The things that made you glad.

Always remember to forget,

The friends that proved untrue.

But don't forget to remember,

Those that have stuck by you.

***

Always remember to forget,

The troubles that passed away.

But never forget to remember,

The blessings that come each day.

That's a really good story. I am watching C-Span and really doing a lot of thinking. I'm glad that we can see this anti war protest on C-Span.

I hope we give peace a chance soon.

FoM, that was fun!
There is a photo in my cherish-ables that shows four longhairs and a Chick leaning up against her brothers VW Van. Classic. I never felt cooler than riding around town in the van. We were always falling out of it at convenience stores after a ride in the woods to score some pot. Of course we drove and toked. EVERYBODY back then. Cops stopped us one time with a huge cardboard box full of Shrooms we "picked" out of cow sh*t a couple of days after a really good storm, but they never looked in the Van! Was that cosmic Protection or what?!? Those were the best shrooms before or sinse.

TROOPS HOME NOW!!!!!

The news is slow so I have been looking up Hippie information just for fun and I found this and it made me smile.

VW Westfalia: http://www.htlounge.net/content_images/4/0658a.jpg

The VW Westfalia is the ultimate in hippie chic. A Canadian designer is looking to re-imagine the Westfalia and bring it into the most modern of times. Alexandre Verdier has designed the new vehicle and is looking for a corporate partner to make it a reality.

The Westfalia had a poptop that opened on an angle to provide more space. In this new form, the poptop opens straight up, and it has solar panels on top to power whatever you want to power in the van (a hydroponic growing operation if you're a true hippie). The passenger seat folds down to become stairs to access the upper level. A kitchenette swings out of the van so that you can cook up your granola without being cramped or in danger of burning your van down.

The modern and creative design only exists on paper for now, but a prototype won't be far off if funding can be found. The world of hippies may never be the same again.

You really are set for today. I currently have C-Span on the tv but I have the sound muted. I keep playing my new John Prine CD over and over again. Now LWW is on and my dogs are howling along. They just love Neil. They really get into Southern Man and when the choir sings America the Beautiful they howl thru the whole song. My dogs have good taste! LOL!

I hope Obama's stop in Oakland, CA this afternoon is available online live or at least at some time. It's a snowy day here and a great day for taking it all in.

I turned on C-Span and they will be showing the protest at 2 EDT. I will watch it.

A comment about Libertarians. Over the years since I have been doing CNews I have been turned off by the condescending of many in the LP Party. I don't even care to acknowledge them anymore. Once I am turned off I will not turn back on ever again. Someone should help people in the LP, and I will add the RP too, to have respect for different party affiliations because that is freedom of thought and action. Showing good manners has always been important to me. That's respect and that's a good thing.

Just came here from PrisonPlanet and read about Rosie's Second Outing. I always liked her for her bravery. She is indeed for REAL. The Grass Roots have sprouted! Even her arch enemy is calling Bush a liar, Donald Trump! PNAC's Bridge is Falling Down!

I wish some of you lived closer to me. Today I need someone to help with an overpass drop for 9-11 Truth. It's ready to hang. Had Enough, you or Hope are probably the closest to me. Want to come on over and help spread the Truth? I know. Thanks anyway. : )

My new 9-11 DVD's are: 9-11 Revisited, 9-11 The Road to Tyranny, The End of Suburbia, USA Drug Lords (Barry Seals and Mena Ark.), and a CD: 9-11 Synchronicity. There are many more tools out there for spreading the Truth, so I'm gonna ask ya:

"GOT TRUTH?"

Mayan, I don't know what I would do without your consistent posts about 9-11. I'm way to lazy, research wise, to ever gather these articles. Thanks!

Rosie O'Donnell has a new fan in me. Now,Oprah and Montel need to jump on the bus! It is imperative that we expose the 9/11 inside job before the neo-cons attack Iran!

Richard, you are a Libertarian nuisance.
You have to be. You keep coming back and dropping your little Lib bombs, then leaving. You don't hang around long enough to see that we are NOT giving Reps or Dems any more credit than we would give Libs. This accusatory attitude is getting the Libertarian Party no respect here, for sure. Next time, at least stay around long enough to hear our rebuttal of your accusations.

The only thing that will give lasting change to this country is Revolution. Complete and total change. Nothing less will do. Want to start that change TODAY?

TRIAL BY JURY AND NECESSITY DEFENSE
The plaintiff should be entitled to an advisory jury, Advisory juries: Using jury trials in courts of equity, 15 NJL 2195 [October 16, 2006], www.njlnews.com, by Lawrence R. Jones, Esq., to decide whether the medical necessity defense should mandate medical "Marijuana" administration. Historically, a jury trial was required IN ALL CASES!! The government has watered down our Right to a jury trial. Your vote for Democrat and Republican political party candidates on election day is surely hammering the nails in the coffin to this Right. You people would be happier with Libertarian Party members of the legislatures, executives, and jurists!!! www.fija.org reports of a recent case from the highest Court of Canada respecting their constitutional Right to a jury trial!!! Isn't it a shame the U.S. government has relegated the jury trial for only rare occasions!!!
