Never Get Busted Again Video Drawing Reaction |
Posted by CN Staff on December 22, 2006 at 13:18:40 PT By Kenneth Dean, Staff Writers Source: Tyler Morning Telegraph Tyler, Texas -- The planned release of a video titled "Never Get Busted Again" by a former East Texas narcotics officer has generated reaction from around the globe. "Is this a bloody hoax?" a British reporter from The London Times asked a Tyler Morning Telegraph reporter Friday morning. Tylerpaper.com and the Morning Telegraph were first to break the story of Barry Cooper and the "Never Get Busted Again" video he plans to begin selling Tuesday, Dec. 26, when his Web site goes live. Cooper, hailed by his former superiors as possibly the best narcotics officer in the nation during his law enforcement career, said he couldn't believe the response he has gotten since the story broke Thursday evening on TylerPaper.com. Cooper believes marijuana should be legalized, and that the imprisonment of people caught with the drug destroys their families and fills up jails and prisons across the country with non-violent offenders and he is using the video to teach people how to avoid arrest during a traffic stop. "Wow. I can't believe there has been this much reaction," he told TylerPaper.com Friday morning. "I knew what the law enforcement communities' knee-jerk reaction would be, but hey, I'm not against them." Since the story was released by the Web site, the newspaper and distributed by the Associated Press, more than 200 publications across the nation and overseas have posted the article on their Web sites. Cooper is planning to do interviews with talk show host Tucker Carlson on MSNBC at 3:11 p.m. CST today and with John Gibson on FOX News at 4:35 p.m. CST. Carlson's producer said Carlson believes Cooper to be a hero, because he is standing up and declaring the War on Drugs is not working. "He (Carlson) really wants him on the show to talk about this subject," the producer said. Cooper said he believes the controversial video and Web site might be a springboard to change in the nation's drug policies. "I'm excited that finally there is a national platform that may free thousands of people from prison," Cooper said. He told the newspaper earlier this week he is motivated to teach Americans about their civil liberties, and he is driven by the injustice and unfairness in the system. Smith County Constable Mark Waters, who works drug interdiction on Interstate 20 near Tyler, said Cooper's actions were a disgrace to law enforcement. "This is a slap in the face to all that we do to uphold the laws and keep the public safe," he said Thursday. Waters said he was also contacted by FOX News to discuss the issue. A short email to CNN, CNN.com, about the story titled above on the main page in 'latest news.' I say a positive message, though, it's about a perceived failure of CNN to be: "fair and balanced" ...don't you HATE the way FAUXNEWS poisoned that phrase? The headline, "Good Cop Goes Bad, is editorial in nature while masking as a news story. To make amends I ask you to do a story on LEAP. The cop in question has regained his sanity. Try to keep yours while this highly fractious story runs ... [ Post Comment ] |

A happy new solstice day, which marks another new year Another Christmas, to celebrate, some Jewish Carpenter, who was so bloodily hammered on to some wooden cross, say hello to runruff, it is the season to make merry and it is time to take a look, at all the wooden soldiers, beneath your tree, one blink of your eye, then you can bring warmed brandy and cakes filled with chestnuts, one blink. EX-DRUG OFFICER PLANS TIPS VIDEO
Officials Express Disappointment With 'Never Get Busted Again' Cooper said in a promotional video that "Never Get Busted Again," shows viewers how to "conceal their stash," "avoid narcotics profiling" and "fool canines every time." Some of the law enforcement officers Cooper previously worked with expressed great disappointment Friday. "He was very effective, and this is just a shame," District Attorney narcotics officer Joe Commander said. "Barry Cooper was a very fine officer, probably one of the best drug interdiction officers I've ever worked with." Cooper told the Tyler Morning Telegraph he made the movie because he believes in the legalization of marijuana and thinks the fight against drugs is a waste of resources. Cooper said arresting marijuana users fills up prisons with nonviolent offenders. "My main motivation in all of this is to teach Americans their civil liberties. What drives me in this is injustice and unfairness in our system," Cooper said. Thank you Mr. Cooper, it is true, We' all need to be made aware of our civil liberties and the unfairness in our system, also known as the world We' live in. Mr. Cooper, you have my full support, I hope your peers may come to understanding, I have no longer the stomach to beat some nigger or some women or to take what belongs to their wages, for I am another witness, who joins with you, and wishes you and your family a very Merry Christmas. It really is sad to be afraid of our own government. I guess by keeping people afraid all the time they keep us in line. They sure don't want another rising up of the youth like we all did during the Vietnam War. If they can't check this war in Iraq then I pity the youth of today that could be drafted because what choice will they have but to bring back the draft? One of the things that drives me a little crazy are people who want us to fear and hate anyone who maybe could help us. Fear and hate don't come from my heart and those emotions destroy and never help. Let's let our lights shine in 07! That's my Christmas Wish. [ Post Comment ] |

The Smuggler, of Cannabis, could have been a victim of the drug war, too. Surely Border Patrol can have bad officers, same as LAPD. Just as a US Marine shot Esequiel Hernandez, and to this day remains nameless, this new case could be just as suspect. Prosecutors in the case believe that. Within the context of the border; illegals, drugs and terrorisys, anything can happen, and probably does. http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/stories/2003/08/17/drugWarVictims.html [ Post Comment ] |

I still want to say Happy Holidays to you even though you are doing a little Bah Humbugging. LOL! When the new year comes and all the hoopla of the holidays are behind us I will be fired up too. The new year is going to be hard. I do feel so very sorry for the families that will be getting a knock on their door during the Christmas Season to tell them a child or husband or wife has been killed because of Bush's war. That festers in my very soul. Let's fix it in 07! PS: How about a little merry christmas for you and your family from me! [ Post Comment ] |

for this man! Order his video! Get it on the blogs! Let's get to work! War is Over, Drug War is Way OVER! And look at this great news, though the MSM, lying liars that they are (don't you hate being a urinalists', Tucker Carlson, Wolf Blitzer-style, and shills', yes shills for bush, all you lurking losers in the media looking for stories on C-News, aren't covering it 24/7, and you know what that means!!! Grow a spine, do some honest, real, investigative reporting or go get jobs at wal Mart please! Journalism has become Urinalism is the USA, just plain ole CRAP! And we're the ones getting pissed on! Can you say 'MUTINY'! Top Generals oppose bushes 'surge', (more dead American soldiers, and thousands of Iraqi men, women and children, but WHO CARES!!! (as portrayed by our MSM). A non story in the press, so much for freedom of the press, ours has been neutered by bush and rove, aren't you embarrassed to call yourselves such an esteemed title, White House, Joint Chiefs At Odds on Adding Troops http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/18/AR2006121801477.html So, here what is so appalling, The Generals that supposedly run this occupation are against bushes 'surge', (bushes last killing spree, and that is what it will be, mark my words and the words of the 'Generals')! And he ignores them, so the PRESS does too. Are you afraid yet? Where is the rule of law, the word accountability has no application is bush world, somehow, and we sit around a do nothing, basically. Isn't that right? Really folks, can we get off our butts and become citizens again, and let these assholes know they're toast? Because if we don't, we are certainly toast, might as well chuck it all now, or live to see bush nuke Iran on his way out of office, his last grand gesture, and a future where America is seen as the latest version of Nazi Germany! Or worse! Just a thought! Happy Holidays my ass, we're doomed if we don't become like this honorable ex-cop! This is what a real man or women would do, and he is doing it, and it's amazing! This man is an example of what ONE man can do, what can we all do as a group? This is the most creative, subversive, truthful approach to ending the drug war, other than the reporting here at C-News, that I have seen, impressive like Marc Emery, and FOM! How we got to this place, where our President makes Adolf Hitler look like bushes HERO, and the world just stands by, aghast, and immobilized, not knowing what the hell to do, and it's another Christmas with THE MAN WHO LOVES DEATH at the helm. I am saddened beyond all belief that we have come to this, Mayans' posts' are usually my favorites, and most informative! Thanks for being so persistent in your blogging, C-News style, you and FOM are the true heroes in a world a fake presidents, fake news, fake food, fake medicine, a Jim Kerrey, Truman style reality has fallen upon America, and I see no reason for joy or celebration yet, though there will be a time, if we become active citizens, and raise our voices, PLEASE! Celebrating the fact that we're NOT in a Nuk-u-lar bush sponsored world war today is worth celebrating, though the state of the media in the US makes me think we have little to base our hopes on. Truly sad, so sad....... [ Post Comment ] |

It could be useful in reducing the number of arrests. It's a bold step and very useful because we need to get the message out, but ignore the "shock" and think, after people have watched the video, how will cops try to still get their arrests? The other thing that comes to mind is that many smokers do have problems and their "culture", be it countercultural, hip hop, minority, whatever, often teaches smokers not to believe in anything, to accept the title of "misfit" or "renegade" without rational or ideal structure. We make mistakes, we get in trouble. And a lot of people that get busted for pot are also arrested for other crimes. It's a complex problem; we're not angels, just normal people who have normal problems which happen to be exploited much more thoroughly than for others. --rchandar [ Post Comment ] |

the case of the two U. S. Border Patrol agents who were put on trial for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler when they attempted to apprehend him. These agents were convicted of violating this criminals "civil rights". This after the U.S. Justice Department got the criminal to testify against the agents in exchange for him being granted immunity for any and all crimes. And these agents now face prison terms of 10 years or more. A California Republican Congressman personally pleaded with president Bush to pardon these two agents - the agents who were simply carrying out their duty to protect our border with Mexico. The response he got from the White House was that this administration feels that they got a fair trial and this administration does not intend to grant them a pardon. [ Post Comment ] |

I guess he needs to be more precise in what he supports and why. He said he wants hard drugs eradicated off the face of the earth and that makes sense to me but then he said he wants drugs legalized which most people don't want. Governor Johnson made the same mistake. They bait them and then that ends the conversation. I thought he wanted to help people hide marijuana so they don't get caught but does he mean he wants to help people hide hard drugs too? Everyone I know would be offended by that but understands the marijuana issue. I wish him the best though. [ Post Comment ] |

I really can't believe the furore that this has caused. That Britisher has captured my own incredulity...but for a different reason entirely. Nothing like the troops in the trenches telling the puff-gutted, clueless generals that their war is a terrible botch. Even worse when those troops dare to suggest an audience with those generals to explain in person. Mr. Cooper is offering to do just that, courtesy of a debate. And as I've said in countless prior postings, the prohibs are p***-their-pants terrified of being in the same room with someone who knows his facts...and is willing to challenge them on the basis of theirs. Especially someone with Mr. Cooper's experience. This is quite a Christmas surprise; I'll certainly be watching for further developments... [ Post Comment ] |
