| Ex-Cop Plans 'Don't Get Busted' Video |

Tyler, Texas - A one-time Texas drug agent described by a former boss as perhaps the best narcotics officer in the country plans to begin selling a video that shows people how to conceal their drugs and fool police.Barry Cooper, who once worked for police departments in Gladewater and Big Sandy and the Permian Basin Drug Task Force, plans to launch a Web site next week where he will sell his video, "Never Get Busted Again," the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported in its online edition Thursday. A promotional video says Cooper will show viewers how to "conceal their stash," "avoid narcotics profiling" and "fool canines every time." Cooper, who said he favors the legalization of marijuana, made the video in part because he believes the nation's fight against drugs is a waste of resources. Busting marijuana users fills up prisons with nonviolent offenders, he said. "My main motivation in all of this is to teach Americans their civil liberties and what drives me in this is injustice and unfairness in our system," Cooper told the newspaper. Cooper said his Web site should be operating by Tuesday, and he plans to publicize the video in a full-page advertisement in a national publication. As a drug officer, Cooper said, he made more than 800 drug arrests and seized more than 50 vehicles and $500,000 in cash and assets. "He was even better than he says he was," said Tom Finley, Cooper's former boss on a West Texas drug task force and now a private investigator in Midland. "He was probably the best narcotics officer in the state and maybe the country during his time with the task force." News of the video has angered authorities, including Richard Sanders, an agent with the Tyler Drug Enforcement Agency. Sanders said he plans to investigate whether the video violates any laws. "It outrages me personally as I'm sure it does any officer that has sworn an oath to uphold the laws of this state, and nation," Sanders said. "It is clear that his whole deal is to make money and he has found some sort of scheme, but for him to go to the dark side and do this is infuriating." Smith County Deputy Constable Mark Waters, a narcotics officer, said the video is insulting to law enforcement officials, especially when it was made by an ex-police officer. "It's an embarrassment to all law enforcement officers across the United States, who put their life on the line everyday," Waters said. "This is a slap in the face to all that we do to uphold the laws and keep the public safe." | Animal Farm was one of the only books that I read when I was a teenager that really made me think about how people are. That book probably is one of the reason that shows me how difficult government really is. The best of intentions were highjacked by greed and we know the end. Over and over I have seen this cycle. The love of money is more a lust for power because then a person will have more money then they know what to do with. Power corrupts and we are seeing it right now in our leadership. | Honestly I don't know if we could compare this Drug War to Orwell's plot in "Animal Farm". Is there another writer who fits this scenario? Crime is dangerous. Lock up all drug users. Nonviolent drug users who go to jail come out violent criminals. Criminals deal drugs; the government calls it more dangerous and hires a new crop of police officers. Repeat cycle. Repeat cycle again. Continue to inform the public that "we're not soft on crime." More and more Americans are imprisoned, rapidly reaching 10% of the general population. The police presence in our country rises from 1 million to 10 million. I'm guessing this is an "exponential growth" theory similar to how Bentham and Ricardo looked at overpopulation and food supplies. | Whether we think the guy is doing this for sucker profit or not, the information he is selling SHOULD be spread, and, as you say, EVERYWHERE. I said I wouldn't buy it, but that was a knee-jerk reaction on my part. The Video (DVD?) obviously contains more than just the information that "BUSTED" had. Most of what "BUSTED" had was just common sense. This may be more technically informative. I'll buy it, and spread it. Toke. [ Post Comment ] |

| Sorry. I didn't mean to yell. Have you noticed all the BS we have to wade through now at some of these 9-11 Truth sites? What's with the in-fighting? Is it that easy for Government Plants to disrupt, what I thought was, a pretty tight group? Some of the claims go from Incredibly Ignoramus to Spectacular Technology that is just, even if true, very hard to believe for most folks. (Not me. I know that any weapon we may think they have, they have had it for twenty years.) Still, the Truth lies among the muck. Of course, you could have mentioned the lives YOU destroyed by upholding the lies, uh, I mean laws, but you didn't, so I did. Maybe that is what the slap in the face is for? Keep the public safe from what? The Truth?!? I don't know why, but I can't help but feel sorry for some of these helpless LEO's.
