FDA Marijuana Stance Good for Anti-Drug Movement |
Posted by CN Staff on April 23, 2006 at 23:04:48 PT By Justin Boron Source: Daily Herald Georgia -- The tea-heads should be on the run. Weed-smokers beware. Marijuana users watch out. The Federal Drug Administration has declared that “no sound scientific studies” support the drug’s use for medical purposes. Finally, someone has come to my rescue. No more should I have to listen to people trying to persuade me that marijuana shouldn’t be criminal because it’s “actually good for you” or doesn’t “adversely affect you like the government says.” Their oft-used defense of the drug is that it has medical benefits. Thank-you FDA for pulling the rug from beneath these fools. This should be the nail in the coffin for pot smokers who believe they are enlightening themselves when they smoke. More importantly, it should put a stop to stupid statements like “I actually think better when I’m high.” Everyone has experienced these annoying people who, void of any logic or supporting information, argue that the drug that has led so many to the perils of addiction is OK to use. Granted, the commercials trying to stop kids from using marijuana — like the one where a teen gets his fist stuck in his mouth — are equally as silly. I don’t condone either kind of stupid argument. But I know drugs are bad. There is no stupidity in that. If I were dictator of this country, I would not only outlaw drug users and addicts, but I would execute them as well, so they don’t needlessly overcrowd jails. In the case of juveniles and marginal offenders that don’t necessarily deserve death, I would banish them to an island. Like on the television show “Lost,” they would live there under the loose supervision of some shadow administration. But they would basically be on their own to survive. Then, the world’s drug-free population would get some badly needed relief on the freeway. We wouldn’t have to deal with the slow and oblivious, impaired drivers. Time spent on trips to the gas station would be knocked down to nothing now that we wouldn’t have to wait in line while some somnambulant marijuana smoker searches for change in his pocket. Mr. Boron, I smoke pot. Not every day, but fairly often. I choose to do so moderately and responsibly for the safe recreational enjoyment of such, eschewing the far more perilous vices of alcohol and tobacco, whilst maintaining my admittedly lucrative position as a financial advisor. Indubitably you would prejudge me to be wholly incapable of providing adequate consultancy regarding pecuniary matters -- indeed, you have stated unequivocally that if you were provided with autocratic powers (a possible scenario over which I will not lose any sleep), you would see to it that I were properly executed. You are entitled to your opinion as much as I am to mine. Opinions, however, are more valid when based upon objective fact. Further, I am entitled to exercise my individual liberty of consuming cannabis in a responsible manner as much as you are to have a glass of Jack Black. The occasional pot-smoker, of which there are literally tens of millions within the United States, are no more "abusers" than the Saturday night social drinker is an alcoholic. Surely a person of your erudite background can comprehend such nuance. As for the FDA's recent condemnation of cannabis for medical purposes, it has been widely editorialized that they have done so as a political maneuver, without any scientific merit, and indeed in stark contrast to the 1999 National Academy of Sciences study which opined that cannabis is "moderately well-suited for particular conditions, such as chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting and AIDS wasting." I can say this: I for one sure do get the munchies somethin' fierce. Methinks, sir, thou doth protest too much, and with shamefully inadequate rationale. JSR Virginia [ Post Comment ] |

I'm still not entirely convinced that this article was not written in jest. But I fear that it was. Let us in all good conscience bring a deluge of well-written (and polite) letters to the editor of this periodical, to provide counterbalance to the insane policies promulgated by this pitiful man. Anyone get the feeling that the prohibitionists feel, perhaps subconsciously, cornered, and that's what makes them fight so? So this is the New South. A pity. I like their peanuts and peaches. Too bad ignorance is par for their golf courses. [ Post Comment ] |

[3] Marijuana users watch out .(Sentence 3) re: "Marijuana users" - Any use of an illegal drug is deemed to be "abuse," weasels the propaganda of prohibition. (After all - it is illegal!) (Use is Abuse (propaganda theme 4) http://drugpolicycentral.com/bot/pg/propaganda/theme4.htm#alluseisabuse ) [6] No more should I have to listen to people trying to persuade me that marijuana shouldn t be criminal because it s actually good for you or doesn t adversely affect you like the government says .(Sentence 6) re: "criminal" - Drugs, scream prohibitionists, cause all bad things in life: crime, violence, insanity, etc. If not for prohibition (i.e., jailing drug users), then criminality, violence and psychotic behavior would explode upon the land, the prohibitionist assures us. (Madness,Crime,Violence,Illness (propaganda theme 2) http://drugpolicycentral.com/bot/pg/propaganda/theme2.htm#2 ) [11] Everyone has experienced these annoying people who, void of any logic or supporting information, argue that the drug that has led so many to the perils of addiction is OK to use .(Sentence 11) re: "addiction" - It is prohibition, claim prohibitionists, that saves people from drug crazed, whacked out, high flying drug users. (Madness,Crime,Violence,Illness (propaganda theme 2) http://drugpolicycentral.com/bot/pg/propaganda/theme2.htm#2 ) [12] Granted, the commercials trying to stop kids from using marijuana like the one where a teen gets his fist stuck in his mouth are equally as silly .(Sentence 12) re: "kids", "teen" - Prohibitionists are champions of "the child", "kids", "children", etc. Only continued or increased punishments of all adults caught using "drugs" will send the correct "message" to children. (Children Corrupted (propaganda theme 5) http://drugpolicycentral.com/bot/pg/propaganda/theme5.htm#5 ) [16] If I were dictator of this country, I would not only outlaw drug users and addicts, but I would execute them as well, so they don t needlessly overcrowd jails .(Sentence 16) re: "drug users", "users", "addicts" - Prohibitionists try to link targeted drugs with people already accepted as hated. (Hated Groups (propaganda theme 1) http://drugpolicycentral.com/bot/pg/propaganda/theme1.htm#1 ) re: "drug users" - Prohibitionist propagandists repeatedly assert that "use is abuse." Details about "using" as opposed to "abusing" drugs are ignored. (Use is Abuse (propaganda theme 4) http://drugpolicycentral.com/bot/pg/propaganda/theme4.htm#alluseisabuse ) [20] Then, the world s drug-free population would get some badly needed relief on the freeway .(Sentence 20) re: "drug-free" - Onward prohibitionist drug warriors, fighting the epidemic and scourge in the battles of the war against drugs! about 'marijuana.' He can write it all down from now until eternity. He can say it all. I don't have to believe a single word of it. I can also make my own decisions independent from anyone's 'thoughts' on the matter of smoking cannabis. In fact, I am going to continue to smoke cannabis. If anyone wants to smoke some weed, that's a decision they can make on their own. Not that tough to do. Those bully prohibitionists need to mind their own business instead of sticking their noses into someone else's. What is that phrase New Hampshire-ites often quote? Oh yeah, 'live free or die.' That's a good one, words to live by. "I'm as free as the breeze, and I'll do as I please... just a bummin' around" [ Post Comment ] |

too much just say no and not enough thinking about what this really means. From the article below "The legalization of marijuana is by no means a new or shocking concept. What does continue to be shocking, however, is our government's unwillingness to re-evaluate its drug policies and recognize the inefficiency and unfairness of imposing such unreasonable punishments. Decriminalization of the drug state by state is a start but it should lead to legalization. Our society and government have wasted enough resources. It is time to solve this "drug problem" and focus on more important priorities." [ Post Comment ] |

make me hope, kind of, that there really is a judgement day someday. I have a tendency to have pity on cruel minded people like Boron (from a distance)...but they have no mercy and no pity for anyone but themselves and their personal convenience. Biblically, and according to the words of He, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Light, Boron is in big trouble for calling people like us "fools", as well. It's hard to pray for people like Daryl Gates and this guy, but I can do it. So far, anyway. Kill people over a plant they consume? What a hideous soul is his. I would rather he kill me than have to live as his slave or be forced to pretend to have a wicked mindset, like his. He'd have a lot of killing to do, and every generation would bring forth a new batch for him to murder. Kind of makes me think of a Vegan who wants to kill everyone who is not a Vegan. Or a meat eater who wants to murder every Vegan. Either way, he's a murderer. A foul murderer. How bout we make cruelty and hatefulness against the law and send the cruel and hateful to live away from us? Or how about them just maturing and letting other people live their own lives...without having to check it out with him before they veer from his personal roadmap of life. [ Post Comment ] |

If this guy does become dictator, we're not going to sit around and take it. We'll have dozens of angry NFL and NBA stars to send after his puny butt. They'll all have death sentences hanging over their heads, I'm sure they'll be willing to do a little extra-curricular work. Ricky Williams is fast! I wouldn't want him chasing me down. I'm glad this little rag published this piece - gives some insight into who really lives in America. No one should be the slightest bit surprised at this - this guy's father could have been lynching blacks. It's only been a single generation, these people are alive and well in the U.S. Lincoln, thanks for nothing. Secession is looking awfully good at this point. These people actually wanted to leave! I thought it was Food and Drug Administration? So now even food is drugs? Hatred makes people dumber than cannabis ever could. People who Love, use cannabis. People who Hate, don't. Yes, that is a generalization. But I think it fits. The only way we can ever convince asses like this is to lock them in a room and get 'em stoned. I assure you, the percentage of Haters would dwindle to none. They would change their campaign to "FREE DRUGS IN AMERICA" instead of Drug Free America. And NO ONE would have to die. Moron. Toke. Justin Boron, should be Justin Moron. Have you ever seen such blind hate? These are the only kind of people who join groups like DAMADD and Drug Free America. Their hearts are filled with hate for those who love God and Planet Earth. They spell GOD either DEA, USA, or FDA. Either way they are wrong. Wouldn't you hate to be this persons child? "Then, the world’s drug-free population would get some badly needed relief on the freeway. We wouldn’t have to deal with the slow and oblivious, impaired drivers." ...so you'll only have to worry about drunk, or dugged drivers, with all the cautious cannabis drivers off the road. Wage peace on war. END CANNABIS PROHIBITION NOW! [ Post Comment ] |
