  Drug Czar Blasts Medicinal Marijuana

medical California -- The Bush administration's point man on drug policy wants random drug testing in your child's school. John Walters was in the Bay Area Thursday to drum up support for his idea, but in a state that legalized medical marijuana, that may be hard to come by.

Roughly 600 of the nation's 15,000 school districts now have random drug testing programs in place. The Bush administration has spent $8 million dollars to help pay for them, and the White House hopes to nearly double that amount next year.

White house drug czar John Walters believes random drug testing of students will stop drug abuse before it starts. He says substance abuse should be thought of as a disease, but instead of being spread by germs, it's spread by peer pressure.

John Walters, White House drug czar: "It's an enormous, first and foremost, prevention tool. It gives young people reinforcement to say 'no I can't, I'm being tested.'"

Some parents and school officials argue it doesn't work and it's an invasion of privacy. Walters counters that most of the opposition to random testing is based on misunderstandings.

John Walters, White House drug czar: "Random testing cannot be used to punish, cannot be referred to law enforcement, must be done confidentially with the inclusion of parents and must be done only to help the child."

Jennifer Kern is with the Drug Policy Alliance, a non-profit group that is critical of White House drug policy. She says parents have little say in the testing process and students who test positive are often punished.

Jennifer Kern, Drug Policy Alliance: "The only national study done was conducted, supported by federal funds and showed no difference in student use in schools that did and did not have these programs."

California's Proposition 215 legalized medicinal marijuana. Walters says it hurts children when it leads to production of pot-laced products that appeal to kids, like what was found in a large bust last week in the East Bay.

John Walters, White House drug czar: "Nobody says I need medicinal meth, medicinal crack, medical Jack Daniels. The fact of the matter is, and we have to have compassion for the sick and dying, but Prop. 215 is being used to suggest marijuana is good for you."

Dennis Peron, Prop. 215 author: "Marijuana is good for you. And I will not just suggest it, I know it. When my lover was dying of AIDS, wasting away, marijuana gave him an appetite."

Dennis Peron authored Prop. 215.

Dennis Peron: "It is not medical meth, not medical crack, it's medical marijuana we're talking about."

The Drug Policy Alliance says punishing kids who test positive by banning them from after-school activities is not only ineffective but counterproductive. Keeping kids engaged in those extracurricular programs, they say, is proven to keep kids off drugs.

But last year, the drug czar's office handed out over $700,000 dollars to California schools launching drug testing programs. None of those schools are in northern California.

Medical Meth LOL!
Ironically Meth IS used medically under the trade name of Desoxyn. It is used to treat Narcolepsy and ADD. For more info see http://www.healthyplace.com/medications/desoxyn.htm and http://www.dea.gov/pubs/scheduling.html

maybe I should change
my user name?

Weighing in on this 'silver confusion,

Silver was heavily used as a treatment for many proven years, until the early 1900's, it was around that time when the infant FDA in this USA, decided to bring forth the agenda of good medicine verses 'bad medicine.

It was around that same time that Cannabis was banished and all records and testimony was either erased or silenced, it was at that time when they decided that prohibition was a just and necessary law in this culture, that is also known as the good old USA.

It was always them 'good old boys, who carefully watched over their investments, you know by now, it is that bottom line in 'black and white, that can fill your belly, the hell with them other lazy people, who either were too sloww or some other medical problem, that is not at the bottom line.

Maybe some of those scientists, should try, to smoke a tight joint filled with good bud, maybe they might catch a glimpse, of this rotten world, filled with disease, anger, confusion, and 'war, and this war on drugs, which is a war on human beings, are 'we not'all children of God?

high yo silver
Aloha Max

No I can’t cite those cases, as I don’t have any copies of the research I did, while I was taking silver. I did not find it that effective however I did see a reduction is inflammation in a leg abrasion I had at the time

I don’t have time right now to re-research this, as we had a windstorm perhaps even a tornado [took down several houses down the hill from me] which has knocked down a huge Mexican cypress tree in my yard which I must tend to, welcome to the wonderful world of global warming [the fact not the username]

That you have seen even a curable case of this blue skin I will take as confirmation that caution is warranted, which is my only point: something about the term HEAVY METAL POISINING seems to ring a bell

A high dose level was probably the cause of the blue skin cases I read about

Silver is available in many forms including home brew kits, and a problem in using silver is the concentration level in the water it is suspended in, getting enough without too much seems to be the problem; also accumulation of silver up to a blue skin tipping point is also a relevant issue in its use.

On the other hand and unrelated to the use of silver; the vaccine has worked for me to such an extent that I have a whole new world; your mileage may vary,

Aloha Rev. Dennis Shields

Aloha Dennis,

Could you cite those cases if possible? Because my research indicates that it takes long-term heavy use to create the condition you're talking about, which is called argyria. If a single dose did it, it would have to be a massive dose I think. Also, it's debatable that argyria is incurable. There is at least one case where a person reversed (cured) it after getting it; it's on the net and can be found. I read it the other day.

I'm glad a vaccine worked for you. I don't trust them, myself.

LOL! Poor GreenJoy! OOhhh NOooo! I do try to keep it down to a roar ya know. ; )

And 1 mod.

I would rather get blown to bits in Iraq, Run over by a bus. Struck by lightning etc. Than ever get pneumonia again. Slow suffocation sucks. I understand that once one has had it the likelyhood of it happening again is high. Its been ten years and I haven't had even a slight cold since! Still scared. FoM, anyone, you don't want to go there. If it gets to the bronchitis stage slow way down and stop pushing yourself, which I did not do. (I'm kinda intense and driven. Passionate about my work.)

I'm hip to the hempseed oil. Part of a pain management regimen that includes celery, pineapple, papaya, (bromelain), meditation, walks, lottsa water, and avoiding bad foods. There's just one thing that's *missing*! The hempseed oil has my big dowg lookin swell! I put it on his kibble. Way fewer hot spots and callouses. He looks Great!

Well, Poor Poor Pitiful Me is goin to shop basinettes!! I'm glowing again. :-)

You can mix up a protein shake and use some hemp seed oil as one of the ingredients.

Hey wouldn't it be great to be able to create a "total nutrition shake" using all parts of hemp for protein, fiber, carbohydrate, oil, etc.

bad joints
I second Kapt.'s recommendation on the hemp seed oil, also for joint problems, the omega-3 oils are very benefical in soft tissue & joint healing. (i.e., poor Greenjoy's neck vertabrae and disks)

I recently stopped taking the capsules of hemp seed oil in favor of just taking a big 'ol tablespoon of the oil everyday, but it's not working out very well so far! It is nasty tasting by itself. Holding my nose helps. I am trying to avoid all the gelatin & stuff in the capsules.

I have found hemp seed oil to be very tasty as a simple salad dressing, mixed 50-50 with balsamic vinigrette.

Manitoba Harvest in Canada is a great place to order either capsules or bottled oil, I think they are 100% organic.

Hope you feel better. My guess is a bit of exercise would trigger some cannabinoids of your own, that and some sunshine helped me . . .

Check out this book, BTW:

- - -

"Drug War Propaganda" ( 2003, Cafe Press, 324 pages ) systematically lays bare the methods and techniques media use everyday to demonize drug users. The book is divided into eight chapters, each chapter examines a rhetorical theme and tactic drug warriors use to smear the very idea of not jailing drug users.

John Walters, White House drug czar: "It's an enormous, first and foremost, prevention tool. It gives young people reinforcement to say 'no I can't, I'm being tested.'"

Let's just build more prisons and then throw the entire population in them. It would give everyone an excuse to say, "No, I can't, I'm incarcerated."

Walters has been an obvious failure. He should resign immediately.

Never Could
figure out the difference between lyrics and scripture,

The Apocalypse of Peter

As the Savior was sitting in the temple in the three hundredth (year) of the covenant and the agreement of the tenth pillar, and being satisfied with the number of the living, incorruptible Majesty, he said to me, "Peter, blessed are those above belonging to the Father, who revealed life to those who are from the life, through me, since I reminded they who are built on what is strong, that they may hear my word, and distinguish words of unrighteousness and transgression of law from righteousness, as being from the height of every word of this Pleroma of truth, having been enlightened in good pleasure by him whom the principalities sought. But they did not find him, nor was he mentioned among any generation of the prophets. He has now appeared among these, in him who appeared, who is the Son of Man, who is exalted above the heavens in a fear of men of like essence.

And as he was saying these things, I saw the priests and the people running up to us with stones, as if they would kill us; and I was afraid that we were going to die.

And he said to me, "Peter, I have told you many times that they are blind ones who have no guide. If you want to know their blindness, put your hands upon (your) eyes - your robe - and say what you see."

But when I had done it, I did not see anything. I said "No one sees (this way)."

Again he told me, "Do it again."

And there came in me fear with joy, for I saw a new light greater than the light of day. Then it came down upon the Savior. And I told him about those things which I saw.

And he said to me again, "Lift up your hands and listen to what the priests and the people are saying."

And I listened to the priests as they sat with the scribes. The multitudes were shouting with their voice.

When he heard these things from me he said to me, "Prick up your ears and listen to the things they are saying."

I can only speak from my own experience, but whenever I start to come down with something, I reach for either of those. You can get the grapeseed extract at any drugstore or health food store; even many large grocery chains like Giant on the East Coast carry it. No, Greenjoy, you must suffer the neck pain in silence for the sake of the State! It is your patriotic duty to work at your job to make money to give to the drug corporations. It is your duty to drink as much Coors as you possibly can, the State approves of it. It is your patriotic duty to make yourself sicker, so that you can work even harder to buy more Big Pharm drugs.

You can be just like that guy in the Army ads - jogging through the neighborhood, watching all the little materialistically spoiled children playing and thinking about going to Iraq to get your ass shot off for them. You, too, can be a hero. As you walk the neighborhood, wincing from the neck pain, you can appreciate the fact that you're contributing to the children's well being.

Ignore the fact that they're already getting high for fun and you can't for pain relief. All that matters is fealty to your State and Government! Let your love for the State and Dick Cheney overwhelm those feelings of chronic pain!

recall
Well there was a link there for info on a recall. In haste to get back I presumed there had been one...perhaps not. Nevertheless, the stuff is harsh and was intended as an anti-seizure medicine. When I injured my neck, I complained of some dizziness and the big time orthopedist considered giving me some for THAT! But then he said, "nah, the stuff will lay you so low that I don't think it..." and he didn't finish. Then there's Adderall. My older brother took some for some crazy reason. It burned the little tiny hairs or something way inside his ears and he hears a constant ringing. It started the 1rst day he took the stuff. Its been several years now, still there. And he's a really down to earth, peace and quiet loving musician. :( Anyway, there are numerous lists with Vioxx, Neurontin, and ADHD medicines on them. Careful with that stuff whig!!!

Neurontin isn't withdrawn. It was being overprescribed for a lot of things, as I understand it, and the company was encouraging this.

There is now a generic (gabapentin) on the market, so the manufacturer is now trying to find reasons to encourage everyone to use their new (patented) replacement, Gabatril.

You wrote:

Your (then) doctor should be fired. He made a common mistake that is really unnecessary. Antibiotics fight *bacterial* infections, not viral ones. Pneumonia is usually a viral disease. When people ask their doctors for antibiotics when they have colds and flus, they are making a big mistake, but there's no real excuse for the doctor caving in and prescribing them. They need to explain the medical facts to them, not give them the wrong medicine for the job. Worse still, antibiotics kill all the beneficial bacteria in our gastro system, which allows pathogenic bacteria to overrun, which puts big stress on the immune system, which ends up benefitting---you guessed it---the original flu/cold/pneumonia (in your case you may have been playing a life & death game there, glad you won...)

I've been reading lately about colloidal silver and am really curious to try it. It is alleged to be effective against all of it---bacteria, viruses, and all their ilk. There are reports that it can even wipe out hepatitis and diabetes.

She had an unjury to her eye when whe was young, and it grew into a major problem. They removed her right eye at the same time they spayed her. It was a critical operation and I was very anxious. We will be bringing her home this evening, or in the morning. We'll keep a close look on her for a few weeks. We love her.

Wage peace on war. END CANNABIS PROHIBITION NOW!

I don't understand why people don't try to get the drug prescribed if they want it since it is legal.

Doctors aren't especially willing to prescribe it for people unless they have a strong and demonstrable condition for which it is medically indicated. Schedule II is pretty tightly controlled, and doctors are scrutinized and subject to prosecution.

Which is all beside the point, really, that John Walters tries and fails to make. People do say they need medicinal meth, and they do get it, legally.

In Addition
The White House has no business determining what is medicine and what is not, nor what is good for you and what is not. And why should they or the FDA be trusted anyway. They said Vioxx was good medicine. That stuff has left me with heartbeat that skips all the time. And I'm one of the lucky ones!!My Dad was given neurontin. It messed him up so bad he seemed as though he had a stroke. I'm certain it hastened his death. Neurontin is on the, "oops we made a mistake it will actually kill you" list as well. The system is the problem. It is unbelievable that Jack Daniels is even mentioned in the same breath as Cannabis and it is plainly two faced that one is prohibited and one is not. But why expect sanity, truth, justice, freedom, liberty, or the right to the pursuit of happiness from a corrupt system.

I agree that Methamphetamine is legal already. I don't understand why people don't try to get the drug prescribed if they want it since it is legal.

Not just amphetamine, but methamphetamine is legally, medicinally prescribable, schedule II, such as Desoxyn. As you said, cocaine is also legally, medicinally prescribable, though not in "crack" form. Alcohol doesn't even need a prescription, and apart from its common recreational use, is a common ingredient in many over-the-counter remedies, even including mouthwash.

There is one major difference between these things and cannabis. You can overdose and die from meth, cocaine or alcohol.

national secretary of hateful lying
John Walters, White House drug czar: "Nobody says I need medicinal meth, medicinal crack, medical Jack Daniels. The fact of the matter is, and we have to have compassion for the sick and dying, but Prop. 215 is being used to suggest marijuana is good for you."

First of all, no one is telling anybody they NEED medical MJ.

Secondly, cocaine is a legally prescribe-able drug in Schedule II. For certain neurological diseases, yes Mr. Pee, your doctor may indeed tell you that you need medicinal cocaine.

Thirdly, I believe there are in excess of 3 million CHILDREN that are on amphetamine-analog drugs right here in the USA (ritalin, etc). Amphetamine drugs are also in Schedule II. There are thousands of doctors who are telling parents that their children NEED medicinal crank. In fact, there are many state-employed school administrators telling parents they're kids must either take the prescription speed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, or face rejection from the government school system.

And lastly, yes, alcohol, in particular spirits, can definitely have a medicinal effect as well. Many people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome report that small amounts of alcohol help with IBS. And there have been numerous reports on the life-extending properties of red wine & dark beers, certainly not medicines, but possibly "nutriceuticals".

I have to say that Mark Emery's interview is weighing heavy on my mind. I've never seen someone do such a great job at articulating the true reasons for the drug war - to repress spirituality, to train the children for totalitarian oppression, to prepare young minds for the application of dogma and obedience to the rich elite and political class.

When you see someone who's dedicated their life to spewing hateful lies, you know something is seriously wrong with the system.

Thanks Everyone
My husband will be back off the road tonight and I am not planning on doing anything this weekend. Hopefully I'll be over the worst of it soon. I feel lousy and I could complain a lot but I am grateful instead. I can get up go make some soup, go to bed and turn on the tv. I can't imagine what it would be like to be sick like the way I feel now and live on the streets.

I had pnuemonia a few years back. Antibiotics galore and I still kept getting thinner and weaker and sicker. Someone at the local organic grocery suggested I take garlic cloves and chop them into pill sized pieces and swallow them whole with water. It worked! I recall feeling better in 1/2 hour, though the return to actual health took months. Anyway, garlic won't hurt ya...unless you are allergic. I eat lots of garlic nowdays. Never sick. Haven't seen much of Dracula either! :)

Arrest the Drug Czar
" . . . (L)ast year, the drug czar's office handed out over $700,000 dollars to California schools launching drug testing programs . . . )

- - -

CONSIDER:

* The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that illicit cannabis is an item in commerce.

* The Sherman act forbids monopoly, construction of devices in restraint of trade or any attempts to fix prices.

* The Partnership for a Drug Free America, funded primarily by pharmaceutical, industrial and drug precursor chemical manufacturers is such a device.

* PDFA and ONDCP are on the record as having published and disseminated false claims in an attempt to restrain any legal cannabis trade.

* In the process, both have authorized or received payments from the federal government based on those false claims.

* Furthermore, the interests funding PDFA do in fact charge the government via Medicare, Medicaid and other industrial contracts for defective and dangerous products at significantly higher rates than the highest street prices known per dose for illicit cannabis.

* Mahmoud ElSohly has been given a monopoly over all legal U.S. cannabis sales, based on his claim, later repeated verbatim by federal officials, that solely his firm manufactures sufficient quality and quantity cannabis to satisfy any need.

* Mr. ElSohly's firm also earns a significant proportion of income by providing adulterated and substituted (urine) specimens.

* Andrea Barthwell is attempting to leverage her former position with ONDCP to lobby for federal approval of a raw cannabis extract.

* John Walters' . . . press release falsely implies that medical marijuana is only smoked, that legal medications are safer, and that synthetic Marinol contains the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis.

* The government concedes that the message they sent by cracking down on marijuana led to the highest rates in history of eighth grade heroin use.

THEREFORE, here are questions for all of you lawmakers, journalists and law enforcement professionals reading this:

Will you blow the whistle on such obvious violations of US law, or are you simply corrupt?

Since 1986 False Claims Act judgments and settlements against fraud feasors have totaled over $12 billion.

Top False Claims Act Recoveries include pharmaceutical, health care and drug precursor chemical firms:

HCA, Taketa-Abbott Pharmaceutical, Abbott Labs, Fresenius Medical Care of North America, SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories Inc., HealthSouth, National Medical Enterprises, Gambro Healthcare, Gambro Healthcare, Schering-Plough, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Bayer Corporation, First American Health Care of Georgia, First American Health Care of Georgia, Pfizer/Warner-Lambert, Blue Cross Blue Shield Illinois, Shell Oil Company . . .

We all have some understanding of the nature of fraud. When a person deliberately uses a misrepresentation or other deceitful means to obtain something to which he or she is not otherwise entitled, that person has committed fraud. However, under the False Claims Act, fraud has a much wider and more inclusive meaning.

Under the Act, the defendant need not have actually known that the information it provided to the Government was false. It is sufficient that the defendant supplied the information to the Government either:

(i) in "deliberate ignorance" of the truth or falsity of the information; or

(ii) in "reckless disregard" of the truth or falsity of the information.

The False Claims Act has been used to successfully recover for fraud against the Government in many areas, including defense procurement fraud, Medicare/Medicaid fraud and fraud against HUD by builders of federally subsidized housing.

In fact, claims may arise in virtually every area in which federal Government money is spent, such as education, welfare, social security and purchases by any federal government department or agency.

FoM, I am so sorry.
I know right where you are. You have what I had the last two weeks, sounds like. I don't know what to tell you, except it will pass. The old rugged Nyquil works somewhat, but nothing seems to relieve for long. I was only able to take one day off to heal, so work and everything else has been in a daze. If this is the worst day, you WILL begin to feel better tomorrow. Bless you. I know Stick is hopping around like a nurse for you.

John Walters is a Nazi, Fascist, Pig
John Walters, White House drug czar: "Random testing cannot be used to punish, cannot be referred to law enforcement, must be done confidentially with the inclusion of parents and must be done only to help the child."

Tell that to the parents who have lost children by suicide, because these Control Tactics are so Over Baring. Tell that the child who has no control over their life, because the government says we can't trust them. Cannabis treats depression. How are you helping ANY child by stripping them of their dignity and honor? What if a child tries pot ONE time, gets tested, humiliated, punished by his parents, and stigmatized along with millions of other "stoners", as being something less than normal, less than trustable. There's not a better way to turn a child into a rebel, than replacing the parents will, with the STATE's will. Parents who agree with this pisstesting are nothing more than Nazi Fascist Satanists.

Choose the Laws of Nature and God over the Laws of Man.

Wage peace on war. END CANNABIS PROHIBITION NOW! PISS ON PISSTESTING!

Change of tune
John Walters, White House drug czar: "Random testing cannot be used to punish, cannot be referred to law enforcement, must be done confidentially with the inclusion of parents and must be done only to help the child."

I think this is an interesting change in the argument for drug testing, that it is to be confidential and not a basis for punishment. But if so, and if it is only to "help the child" with the "inclusion of parents" then what if the parents object to testing of their child?

No Child's Left Behind
My older daughter told me the story of what happened in her rural High School when the drug dog inspected the locker areas. The dog started in and then sat down in the middle of the hall and whined...... The drug warriors don't seem to realize the aura of allure they creat with a constant drone of anti-drug messages. Ah, the forbidden fruit syndrome...... The reality is that when the staggering national debt come crashing down on the economy the drug war will crumble as did prohibition after the Great Depression...... After we attack Iran in June and a barrel of oil hits $100, world banking will switch from the falling dollar to the Euro as the international narcotics trafficers have already done.
