Eleven House Pages Dismissed Over Marijuana

cannabis Eleven teen-age House pages have been dismissed from the program after at least one of them brought marijuana to their Capitol Hill dormitory, congressional sources said Wednesday. None of those involved were identified.

The incident, first reported Wednesday by the online version of the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call, occurred after a female page who has family in the Washington, D.C., invited fellow pages to the residence, where marijuana was used and the teen-agers were unsupervised.

That page later brought drugs to the dormitory and was turned in to authorities by someone else, said the sources, speaking on condition of anonymity. It was unclear if any other disciplinary action would be taken.

"We don't comment on personnel matters," said John Feehery, spokesman for House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill.

The House normally has 72 pages, all 16 to 18 years old, serving as messengers and performing other duties when not attending education programs. They are appointed by House members of both parties from their home districts and must sign a code of conduct.

Scandal has rocked the program periodically, most seriously in the early 1980s when former Reps. Gerry Studds, D-Mass, and Daniel Crane, R-Ill., were censured for sexual misconduct with pages. In 1996, five pages were dismissed for underage drinking.

O'Reilly
Maybe O'Rielly can bring his priest in for a little moral guidance on this sensitive issue?? Oh, yeah, I forgot, well, maybe not......

This is an interesting statement on our culture - Congress if full of big fat guys, many with faces clearly showing the signs of career alcoholism, who have a mistress or two, in many cases pop pills and drink all day, and just in general are overweight, unhealthy pigs. Big 'ol jiggling chins and all. And a bunch of bright, young hardworking PEOPLE get crucified for the sake of hypocrisy.

How many other cultures in history did this kind of stuff? What message are we sending to kids - that it's all about spin control in life - no right or wrong, just have a good publicist.....

I hope Bill reads your letter on the show!

If he does, if somebody wouldn't mind writing down any comments O'Reilly makes about the letter and post them here, it would be appreciative.

My letter to Bill
Dear Bill,

I absolutely 100% agree with you on those boys who were suspended.

But may I suggest that their shocking lack of ability or willingness to engage in simple moral reasoning is partly the fault of the War on Drugs.

The issue of drug abuse has been allowed to overshadow all other issues of mental health and proper behavior for teenagers.

These boys have been taught to pass urine tests, not to ponder the morality or ethics of the way they choose to treat the other people in their lives.

To some extent, the War on Drugs has resulted in the moral dumbing down of America.

Keith Stroup
I watched the whole interview and Keith Stroup did a very good job. He showed respect to O'Reilly and emphazied what they agreed on. He use good wisdom in his responses and stayed focused which is very hard to do with O'Reilly.

I love children and I want to protect the children too. I want to protect them from being arrested. I don't want young people to clutter their mind with drugs but I don't want them to clutter their young minds with propaganda even more. Youthful indiscretion occur as we all know and jail isn't going to make their life good at all. They won't have the luxury of growing out of their youthful indiscretion when their lives have been forever changed by an arrest and maybe jail.

O'Reilly is a pompous idiot
Good Lord, "drug flea-markets" in Holland? He is such a liar. O'Reilly rudely dismissed Mr. Stroup so many times, shot his mouth off with incredible lies and, for the love of God, ENOUGH about the kids. We ALL love the kids. Quit using them as pawns. On top of it all, O'Reilly seems to think that kids aren't smoking cannabis at all, but 100% of them will if we re-legalize.

My wife and I were proud of Mr. Stroup, and we both think O'Reilly needs to hire a better fact checker before he opens his mouth.

Oh, that's 13 more.
The mass arrest of students on drug-related charges was the second IU police have made this year. In December, 13 students were charged.

Here is 10 more people that see how stupid this drug war is.....

Viewed at: http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/home/article/0,1299,DRMN_1_1118175,00.html Ten students arrested on marijuana charges April 30, 2002

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- Ten Indiana University students were asleep or cramming for finals when police came to the door with arrest warrants.

"They were shocked," said Officer Dale Hannum, who coordinated a semester-long investigation that led to the arrests on marijuana charges early Monday. "They wanted to know why they couldn't go to their finals this morning."

All 10 students were charged with at least one Class D felony, which carries a minimum sentence of one year in jail. All 10 were also charged with drug-related misdemeanors. Three of the students were charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to deal and felony cultivation of marijuana.

Hannum said he also expects to file charges in the next few days against another IU student for dealing cocaine, a Class A felony, and ecstasy, a Class B felony.

The mass arrest of students on drug-related charges was the second IU police have made this year. In December, 13 students were charged.

"There was definitely a ripple through the drug culture," Hannum said of the first series of arrests. "It didn't stop the problem, but it sure did slow it down."

During Monday morning's arrests, police confiscated more than 150 grams of marijuana, as well as numerous smoking devices and paraphernalia used to grow and distribute marijuana, according to Hannum.

That's 21 people blessed that they haven't been shot yet by triger happy (primed to kill) SWAT.

O'Reilly Factor
Email your comments about the show to: oreilly@foxnews.com

Keith was great but O'Reilly kept stressing harm reduction to children. If I told you I loved your children would you believe me. Tell parents you care about their children and you have them, get to the fear of parents and you have them -- modivation by morality or fear, fear isn't founded in truth, morality without truth isn't honesty.

Make a difference, send an email.

Keith Stroup,
from NORML,was just on & had a good debate with O'Reilly. O'Reilly was criticizing the Dutch model & Stroup responded by saying that the Dutch rate of cannabis use by youth was about half that of the United States. O'reilly said that's because the Dutch have far fewer people!!! Stroup said he wasn't talking about numbers but percentages & O'reilly mumbled something about not believing the Dutch Government's statistics!!!(He sure is quick to believe the U.S. Government's numbers though!)

Once again, Bill said he didn't mind decriminalization if some "boobs" want to sit in their basement & smoke pot. They both agreed on numerous points & O'Reilly actually seemed to have respect for Stroup. I wonder when the transcript will be posted?

O'Reilly talked over Stroup at first, but toward the end allowed enough of a response that the truth was told.

These video pieces are invaluable, and would be very powerful if dissected and responded to, point by point.

Bless Keith Stroup's Heart
God Bless the man and I mean that. He was sitting on O'Reilly hot seat and held his own. O'Reilly said he was not against decriminalization! I like it! I like it! I like it!!!

I missed some of it though. I hope we can find transcripts or an article soon.

How could this be?
Hasn't the US government reduced all drug use by 75% in the last 10 years? They must be terrorists! How else could we explain why the propaganda and DARE had no effect on these horrid criminals?

Oh wait... these are rich kids, they must be victims of Drug Policy Reform rhetoric.
