medical Two high-profile American advocates of medicinal marijuana, who fled California on drug charges and took up residence on the Sunshine Coast, were arrested by RCMP and immigration officials at their homes Tuesday.

Steve Kubby, 56, and Steve Tuck, 35, who came to Canada because they feared they would be jailed in the U.S. under that country's harsher drug laws, were arrested without incident and taken to the Sechelt RCMP detachment.

Glad You Liked It Nuevo Mexican
I couldn't remember the other words. I never could but you don't need to tell me! LOL!

Seriously these are intense times. They just said on FoxNews they are going to talk about the legalization of marijuana. I couldn't find an article and I'm not sure what time but they did say it so I'll keep their channel on. They know how to make you not turn the channel. I ordered a satellite today but that won't help during the next month. Please if someone finds that C-Span is covering NORML's Conference post the link so we won't miss it. If I could I would be surfing all over for info but can't so please don't let me miss anything.

Your sense of humor brightens our day FOM!
Now that was funny, in these unfunny times! Looks like there will be hell to pay if hundreds of supporters rally tomorrow. We haven't got much time, but if the posts' here are any indication, they have waaaayyy overstepped there bounds now and will be put on a short chain from here on out! We are winning, as this has the DEA, bushboy/bushdaddy, asscrack, and ASAs' fingerprints all over it! Let's see if Canada is willing to buck the good ole boys network in exchange for admiration from the world over for upholding the democratic ideals that are continually attacked by the Republican/militarist/Enron right-wing idiots! If Canada buckles, then you can count on a revolution being started over Cannabis caregivers and patients. This will not stand, mark my words as making accurate predictions is all i'm good at, and I've got lots of practice! Godd (Good/God) always prevails, and that, is the last word! Keep up the e-mail/cell phone/posters/letters/phone tree effort, as it worked in Venezuela, it can happen here!

Send me an email to the address provided on my comment, and I'll send the flyer to you as an attachment when I get home from work.

Thanks for asking.

Anyone else who wants a copy, please send me an email, and I'll get the flyer out to you as quick as I can after work.

It's really nothing fancy; just a headline followed by a quick synopsis of the situation and a plea for action with phone numbers included. Oh, and a couple of marijuana leaf logos tastefully (I hope) applied.

Dan B.
Could you forward the flyer to me?

My daughter is a student at UCBerkeley and might be able to post and distribute copies.

Thanks...

Flyers
I should let everyone know that I can't send out flyers until I get home from work (around 6:00 p.m. Central). The file is on my computer at home--sorry.

The good news is that I made 100 copies of it and walked out to the campus "free speech area" (aren't all areas of America supposed to be "free speech areas"?) at about 8:15, and all of them were gone by 9:30 (when I had to leave in order to arrive on time for the class I teach at 10:00). I will be making 100 more copies and handing them out this afternoon (I don't get a ride home until 5:00, but my last class ends at 3:20--just to clear up why I can't send out the flyer sooner). I'm hoping that some people actually call, but even if they don't, I want them to at least get a smattering of information about medical marijuana (some people, believe it or not, still aren't aware that there is such a use for cannabis).

So, all in all my day's been weird, yet quite satisfying.

If you want, I'll fill in the weird details.

"*&$?%@!"
I've got alot to say, but FoM would have to delete 3/4 of it because it would fry hard drives in a cloud of blue smoke.

(grin) I hear that, my friend...

Peace

Damn...
Last night I forwarded the earlier article to a few journalists I've written in the past. Hopefully they will write something. No responses yet.

Mourners for Man Shot by Sheriff's Deputy Block Freeway Traffic in Protest The Associated Press
Published: Apr 17, 2002

SEATTLE (AP) - Demonstrators marching from the funeral of a black man shot to death by a white off-duty sheriff's deputy briefly blocked traffic on a busy freeway.

Authorities made no arrests when 100 to 200 people blocked the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 for about 30 minutes during the afternoon rush hour Tuesday.

"This is just the inauguration, the beginning of a sustained effort to get the responses we've been seeking," said the Rev. Leslie D. Braxton of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

The demonstrators marched to the King County Courthouse after the funeral for Robert Lee Thomas Sr., 59, and threw two blags of red liquid against the courthouse to represent Thomas' blood. The courthouse contains the sheriff's office.

I sent out emails to 54 addresses with the caa.com extension, maybe a few prominent folks will speak out. Anyone got Michael J.Fox' email address? Or Woody Harrelson, or Dr. Dre, or what about Howard Stern? If you can find any of those people's contacts, email them directly and/or send me the addresses. I've got plenty more words... and a few civil disobedience styled deeds, too.
