Peruvian Government Says It Can't Eliminate Coca

justice Peru's counternarcotics efforts have eliminated 70 percent of the country's coca cultivation during the past seven years and have won praise from the Bush administration. But far from the capital of Lima the reality is very different. Farmers in the mountainous high jungle are clearing land and planting coca fields faster than anyone can remember.

Demand and prices for coca leaves, which are used to manufacture cocaine, are on the rise and farmers here, as anywhere, know when to shift to better-paying crops. Adding to the rush to plant coca in Peru is growing U.S. counternarcotics aid to Colombia and a widening war there, which are reducing the supply of coca leaf in the country that produces the most.

"We can't get rid of our own coca . . .
. . . but we'd be glad to shoot down some more random aircraft for you, Uncle Sam!" says the Peruvian government.

Hey, I'm glad that Peru finally has the sense to say that they can't control their own coca plantations. It's about time someone in that part of the world told it like it is. Colombia has turned into the most violent nation on the planet because its government cares more about U. S. government dollars than it cares about the truth.

But I'll be darned like a sock if I'm going to sit back and give praise to the Peruvian government until it stops being complicit in United-States-backed shooting down of unidentified aircraft. The idea that we need a policy of "shoot now, ask questions later" with regard to civilian aircraft in the region is both dangerous and repugnant.

I'll be happy when Peru and the rest of South America grows a backbone, starts making its own policies, and starts telling the United States to stick its money where the sun does not shine.

Can't snort coca leaves or shootup poppies...
Takes lab parephernalia and chemical corporations ingredients to make the addictive white powders...unlike homegrown nonaddictive cannabis...classed as a #1 narcotic while the coke, speed and morphine stay prescribible by scheduling them as a #2. Cannabis is the Keystone of WoD, maintaining dysfunction profiting fascist on the misery of Americans...
