medical Five men armed with automatic weapons burst into a Kapoho man's home Tuesday night and beat him before stealing prescription marijuana and cash, the victim said. Police issued a two - sentence statement confirming the robbery and some of the details, but declined to provide additional information regarding the incident.

The man, who asked to be identified only as a retired U.S. Army officer, said robbers carrying AK - 47 submachine guns, a shotgun and a .45 - caliber pistol burst through his door at 8:30 p.m.

Dressed like "ninjas," they wore ski masks and dark glasses to conceal their identities, he said. The man said he was punched twice in the face and knocked to the ground while his wife also was roughed up.

"This is unreal," the victim said Tuesday in a phone interview, his voice choked with emotion as he recalled the ordeal. "I spent a year in Vietnam, and I was never under that much of a threat."

The man said he and his disabled wife have state - issued prescriptions to grow and possess limited quantities of marijuana.

"I've never been on the illegal side of marijuana use," he said, adding he and his wife use marijuana to treat pain, and that he is recognized as a caregiver for another legal user.

Two other medical marijuana users verified the man has been approved to use pot.

Expecting to find a large pot operation and lots of cash, the robbers held both the man and his wife at gunpoint, he said.

"It was all to cause fear in me so I would do what they wanted," he said. "They wanted the cash and the drying room."

The robbers escaped with seven mature marijuana plants, three ounces of dried marijuana and $500 in cash, the man said.

The man speculated he wouldn't have been attacked if the group had known he wasn't a commercial grower reluctant to call police.

The man said he hopes police will catch the robbers and that news of his story will produce leads. However, he feels police have been feeding the robbers information so they can avoid capture.

"I told police that I don't trust them," he said.

Lt. James Kelly denied that police are helping criminals.

"I really feel sorry that he feels that way," Kelly said. "I don't know where he would get something like that. I haven't seen anything that even comes close to that allegation."

The victim, a four - year Kapoho resident, said he will not stay overnight at his house "until this terrorist group is caught" and may leave the island.

As for his hard - to - replace medicine, the man said he will either use prescription painkillers or ask to borrow marijuana from other authorized users.

Jonathan Adler, a vocal marijuana advocate and holder of a prescription to use the drug as medicine, said laws must be changed to allow people to protect their families against this type of attack.

Adler complained that a misdemeanor conviction in the 1970s for marijuana possession prevents him from owning a firearm.

"I'm not allowed to protect my family according to the Constitution of the United States of America," he said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call police at 966 - 5835 or 933 - 3311.

One man;s Cop is another man's robber!
You better believe it! Whether it was cops or not, it doesn't change the facts. Armed men entered a private residence by force and stole personal property and money from a disabled retired couple who, with my assistance had registered with the state and had legal rights. This is theft and assault, no more, no less. When the Police do the same thing, it's supposed to be alright, but if a group of local boys does the same, because they know that the Police get away with irt all the time; they are somehow criminal? It's a farce and I am fighting back! I am still running for Governor and my latest civil obedience act was awesome! I walked into a "sobriety checkpoint" in Hilo, last night where 4 patrolmen were stopping cars looking for drugs and alcohol, baby! I showed them my state ID card for marijuana and we discussed the new law, after which I said I was experiencing a bit of pain! I then took a bud and shoved it into my pipe and smoked the whole bowl in front of the uniformed and armed police! I smiled. They smiled. I left! It can and now has beeen done! Wow! Don't give up, progress is still being made. I even made a written proposal last week to FAA to begin new allowances for medical marijuana transport between our islands by authorized patients and care-givers! I will not stop, until we win! Peace Out! Jonathan Adler (www.adler4gov.com

Nuja suits or
White Gowns and pointed hats.

It is the same thing one class of people against a different class of people.

I agree we will see more. They did a lot more of this legally as swat teams. But I have noticed fewer reports of SWAT actions lately.

The warriors are restless.

Dave, sad to say, it was my first thought
And we can expect to see more of this kind of 'star chamber justice' as the antis get increasingly frustrated. after all, what makes the cops in Hawai'i think they are any less corruptable than the Thugz-in-Blue in New York and los Angeles, who tipped off their dealer buddies as to when a raid would coccur?

nice bit from Julius Ceasar
How timely. Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. had some nice thoughts on that too- He stated that (as to the war on slavery) that the "war reveals itself to be slavery's twin-parent/child & sustainer all at once". (The Metaphysical Club). I did a full review on the book at (my website-ILLINOIS-MMI.org, zine #5). I am a lone warrior in Illinois, trying to induce the state to use a really good pre-Reagan MM law (1971, good amendments 1979, buried in the Reagan Blackout-1984, never seen since then-but still on the books). I need help: lawyers (ammo, at least) & money, as I had my law license taken away because I came forward and advocated for the actual authorization of pot use under this law for my ADD (attention deficit disorder), the ritalin is fine, but I get this bad depressive slide at night-15 pills later, I was told to "move to California" (which I should have done right away, rather than staying and trying to save my marriage-now I have neither career nor family nor money-just some "Don Quixote" thing happening here. Please let me know how you like my writing (I figured I would learn to write-since I have to find a new career anyway).

Your medicine or your life... not much of a choice

How about changing the law so nothing like this would ever happen again? How many people are held at gunpoint and forced to surrender their aspirin? Until cannabis is fully available equally for every citizen in this country, the sick and dying will have to fear for their lives.

Julius Caesar
From: Peter Webster Date: Fri Mar 15, 2002 2:42 pm Subject: !!!!! Julius Caesar on War

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."

Police
It may have been the police, harassing patients. I sure would not put it passed some of the crazed drug warriors, figureing that if they can't stop it legally, then they would do it illegally..
