Examining Medical Value of Marijuana |
Posted by FoM on February 18, 2002 at 08:21:52 PT By David Eggert, Washington Bureau Source: Seattle Post-Intelligencer Researchers next month will begin the first study since the 1980s of the reputed medical benefits of marijuana, signaling that the long debate over the drug's merits could be settled in hospitals and labs rather than in courts and Congress. Scientists at the University of California's Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research will conduct tests to determine whether smoking marijuana -- dubbed "medipot" -- can help HIV-infected patients and those with multiple sclerosis by easing pain or treating nausea. When I first tried smoking pot to help me quit drinking, all it did was put off the inevitable..and made me feel a little better before it all hit the fan....but I went to AA, got a little less judgemental, a little more real...pot alone won't get you off of a dependency.....but if you're OFF that dependency, a little toke can be nice..and sometimes medicinal.....I don't hold with the popular opinion current with a lot of AAs...that any mind-altering substance use is Always abuse....(Even though for many people that IS the case)...you have to decide for yourself, what is real, and what works for you...that used to be legal.. Interesting that the DEA raids took place prior to this 2 year study being initiated, and all records, patient files, computers, and weed was seized. 8 years of records would seem to provide more competent evidence than a 2 year funded experiment. Hmmmm...What do they want to alter and hide. Give the records back and restore the clubs! That would provide a comperative comprehensive study against a two year funded experiment. [ Post Comment ] |

There is a real problem with alcoholism. They should have done trials 30 years ago to see if cannabis would help with alcohol dependency. What are these guys waiting on- the next election. VAAI [ Post Comment ] |
