| Cannabis Helps MS Bladder Control |

Patients with advanced multiple sclerosis (MS) often suffer bladder problems - and cannabis may be able to help. Early results of a clinical trial at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery suggest that the cannabis improves bladder complaints. All the patients taking part were wheelchair users and no previous treatments had been able to improve their bladder problems. Professor Clare Fowler, who is leading the trial, said: "Bladder dysfunction is a significant problem for many sufferers of advanced MS. "The results show this is an effective treatment, which could improve quality of life, but further research is needed." Tongue Spray The cannabis was provided in an under the tongue spray, and patients were able to take as much or as little as they liked, up to a maximum dose. Paulene Winn, a patient taking part in the trial, said: "My bladder functioning is vastly improved. "Previously I needed to empty my bladder 17 to 20 times every 24 hours. "I was plagued with urgency, frequency and incontinence. Now I feel much more confident about going out and my bladder doesn't seem to rule my life." The study was funded by the Medicinal Cannabis Research Foundation and the MS Research Trust. This is just one of several trials testing extracts of cannabis against both other symptoms of MS, and other problems like cancer and post-operative pain. Patients have reported that cannabis -often obtained illegally - can offer relief to symptoms such as muscle stiffness. | This is simply the latest of what will be an avalanche of positive tests results with cannabis in the next couple of years. The prohibitionists in Amerika will pretend that they never happened. The news will not reflect it. Compare these results to Detrol, a relatively side-effect laden med for the bladder that was approved after testing showed that patients urinated, on average, one less time per day. Big deal. That isn't, but this is, and side effects were minimal. People who care should spread this information everywhere, so that the people will know, at least. Cannabis will be available as medicine and legal or decriminalized everywhere in Western Europe and Canada before any reform occurs here. [ Post Comment ] |

| I used to have interstitial cystitis, which is one of the most annoyingly horrible and maddening problems a person can have. You have to pee every five minutes even when you are empty and horrible pain results from trying to ignore this call of Nature. And it hurts when you pee, too. But eating a marijuana baked good with a cup of tea will zap bladder pain or inflammation really well. It's like an aspirin that works right in the bladder. It's so amazing. I wonder if it has the power to suppress bladder cancer? That should be looked into. This world is filled with lies and deliberate ignorance about marijuana but the truth cannot be stopped and the struggle goes on. [ Post Comment ] |
