TOO BADD!

I am really not sure how to feel about this article. True, I think it is sad that so many of our weedy brethen [forgive the patriarchal reference] had to give up their lives in the face of these murderous savages. I think my overriding emotion here is anger, however. maybe not over the killing of so many plants, but rather that so much time and effort has been wasted to eliminate so relatively few plants. Time = money in this crazy world and 22 years of hunting plants is a lot of time = $$$. As for the number of plants, consider the thousands of America's youth that are cultivating perhaps 5 or 6 plants in their closets and backyards every year and the dozens [probably more] of pros that grow on scales similar to that in the story. Soon, 100,000 plants becomes a drop in the bowl. Can't these people realize the futility of their efforts? Stop wasting the money of U.S. citizens. Why is the public convinced that destroying a few harmless plants is more important than catching REAL violent criminals?

San Diego County Marijuana Eradication Team - SDCMET - boy, that acronym just doesn't work. Maybe "TEAM for the ERADICATION of MARIJUANA in the COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO - TEMCOSD". That's a little better... who am I kidding- these boneheads have to much time on their hands. Why isn't "FASCISTS for UNEARTHING the CANNABIS KIND, the EARTH'S REMEDY for STRESS", sufficient?

These growers cared. Remote locale, terracing to curb erosion, a good watering scheme. People have no appreciation for the time and effort the growers put in. I really believe that; I'm not trying to be flip. As if we're supposed to be impressed that it took untold hours (and $$$) of helicopter time and however many hours to find some weeds and yank them out of the dirt. Wouldn't that time and money been better used nailing crack dealers selling rocks to kids on the schoolyard 75 miles back in town. Or carjackers or crooks or rapists or something? [I don't know San Diego very well. I'm stuck in the clutches of the midwest- yee hah.]

Speaking of which, as farmers are forced to sell out to big corporations perhaps they could find work with SDCME! Our farmers are great at eliminating weeds! The guv'ment should be more than willing to supply the proper toxins and equipment. I'm not saying farmers are bad, just that the guv'ment perpetuates the need for farmers to overstress the soil with chemicals and a lack of crop rotation by giving them subsidies to make up for lackluster profits in an overregulated ag market. i.e. "grow lots o corn cuz we need it (not) and we'll pay you to use as many resources as possible" What's guy to do when that is the only money he can get for toiling in the fields. BTW, never call farmers lazy, they don't like it and well, it is hard work for relatively meager profit- you wouldn't believe the taxes these dudes have to pay- it's shameful... but I digress, again.

I'm just thinking if SDCMET insists on wasting money, they should at least make the effort to do it right and use people that have expertise in the area of weed removal.

Sorry about that last bit... kind of a warped attempt at half humor. I am angry that SDCMET even exists, but I am also angry that the public is brainwashed into rooting for this blatant waste of manpower. I thought cops were trained to take on hostile criminals- I mean imagine this exchange the next time you're high-

Cop: "I said freeze weed plant!"
Weed Plant: "What the hell do you want from me, I'm a plant!"
Cop: "Get down on the ground! Now a__hole!"
Weed Plant: "Jesus! I'm a plant, man! I can't! Don't hurt me, man!"
