justice The craze over one of the hottest new party drugs became evident at Dr. Fred Mishrikey's animal clinic last week, when armed robbers bound and gagged him and his wife and demanded his supply of "Special K."

Officials say the robbery is part of a nationwide trend as a growing number of drug users seek out a substance that produces a euphoric high but is able to tranquilize a horse with a dose of less than a half-ounce.

Exxon
okay, FoM, i should have known you were on the ball. i did not drop by here yesterday and didn't see the article. Here is an even older article, from wednesday:
http://biz.yahoo.com/rf/010711/l10259453.html
It tells how Exxons support of Bush's refusal to ratify a global warming treaty has been met by a protest and boycott that is presently spreading thru europe. it's supported by greens and others including gays and lesbians who say that their benefits as employees are unfair. i'm having trouble finding much very current news on this, but here are a couple of websites with links:
http://www.pressurepoint.org/
http://www.stopesso.com/
Maybe we should join this boycott.
-- it's not hard to imagine where exxon stands wrt industrial hemp for fuel
-- exxon was among the largest if not the very largest contributor to the bush campaign
--AND a search of our cnews website for "exxon" reveals that exxon supplies monsanto with 'liquid isoparafins' used in the manufacture of ROUNDUP.
--exxon has oil interests in colombia and so a corresponding interest in Plan Gran Colombia

well, what do i mean by "Maybe we should join this boycott"?
well, i guess that would mean a statement by management that the site supports the boycott. and from Lindesmith Center too.

and what about NORML too? this has always seemed a pretty tame organization to me, and not well represented. norml ought to make a statement in support of the boycott too.

anyway, i keep looking for ways to fight against the drug war that might actually be effective, might cost some drug warriors some of their abundant money. and here's a pretty big movement that might actually welcome us. we have a lot of common ground with the environmentalists, most of us are quite environmentally conscious.

i could pick on george bush again today, but it's not a fair fight. exxon is a more suitable adversary for us, more our size. so i dropped in here to throw the idea out for anyone who cares to comment. if there are 3 or 4 articles on this already posted it just shows i havn't been keeping up with the board. i feel powerless against the drug war, it's disheartening to see an entire hemisphere brainwashed by corporate propagandists. they're just trying to make money - it's the american way - but at some point long passed people and peace gotta come before business and war.
PAZ

Columbus
Hi Lehder,
I posted this article from the Columbus Dispatch yesterday and as I did I wondered if it would make it from the very beginning. I usually try not to comment on issues very frequently but this is my state and I just want to say something. I think our laws have been fairer then many states since they turned them around years ago. I'd much rather see a law on being allowed to have a small personal garden then to be able to have 7 ounces on you. If cultivation for personal use was allowed like being able to make your own beer then it would benefit many people more then possessing that many ounces in my opinion. Why hasn't anyone tried to talk about a plot size? Say each person could grow a 10 by 20 area inside or out and maxamize their garden to the best of their ability. It would be challenging and fair.
