medical A grand jury on Wednesday indicted marijuana activist Jonathan Adler on eight drug charges. Adler, 49, was already scheduled to go to trial next month on similar charges stemming from an arrest in 1998.

The latest grand jury indictment charges Adler with commercial promotion of marijuana, six counts of promoting a detrimental drug and one count of possessing drug paraphernalia. If convicted on all counts and if the sentences run back to back, he faces as many as 45 years in prison.

Hmmm

second - degree promotion of marijuana, a class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison

That's a law where an argument can be made that someone should challenge its constitutionality. Still, a noble effort to take one for the team. However...

Picture if you will the dark days of the freedoms you hold dear. Those days that what you say might be interpreted as a crime punishable by the state. The days that the old ways penetrate the internet, and that all of our freedom is gone.

I don't know what that was.

Right on dddd,,,,I have a new goodwill on JAH

itz fryday the thurteeth
.....I encourage all to join me in a self proclaimed
declaration that I have observed for many years
when this special day,and date coincide......

..Years ago,,in a defiant act of anti-mainstream preclusion,,
,,,I decided that Friday the 13th is a special lucky day,,when
good fortune comes,,and positive vibrations abound.....

The theory behind this reverse HooDoo,can best be explained
by realizing that there is an abundance of positive vibrations
that are not being used because so many supersticious people
are cornering the market in bad mojo,,that there are good mojos,
and HooDoo abounding.............furthermore,,if one wishes to
enhance the good JuJu,,,all ya gotta do is walk under a ladder,,
break a mirror,,and hunt down a black cat,,,and you can enjoy
the embellished good happenings on this special day........

...................................outasight......................................just what JAH ordered............................dddd

thought and speech regulation
You're right, dddd. The Internet's days may be numbered. i've often wondered why the government has allowed this medium to develop as it has. maybe it's just collecting names. i think i'll expand Neil's indictment of this site as a DEA front to include the entire net. seriously, i think there is every chance that speech on the net will be sharply curtailed eventually by privatizing the net - putting its regulation into corporate hands.

i notice that this site is not as fully referenced by the Yahoo search engine as it once was. specifically, i used to be able to enter exact phrases contained in some of the comments, in quotes, into the search engine and obtain a cnews listing. for example, i could enter "slogans, pinheads and prisons" or other unique or nearly unique expressions to obtain a link to my own comments, or yours, here. that no longer works, as of about 6 weeks ago. you can still get a reference to the recent comments page by entering, for example, 'kaptinemo'. but the text of the comments is no longer referenced in the search engine. to protect children?

next...
will be a law against "Thoughts of drugs",,,it sounds absurd, but
it's not that far off.You can already be put away for "conpiracy",
which is very nebulous.....If they are charging this guy with "promoting",
and they get away with it,,then magazines like High Times will disappear soon,
and then, the web will be policed for promotion.....Like I've said before,,,enjoy
the internet while you can,,because it wont be long until it becomes way less
free........On the local L.A. news tonight, there was a story announcing the opening
of a new branch of the LA county sherriffs office known as the "cyber crimes division".
(I'm not joking here folks)...They showed pictures of the multi-million dollar
Cyber Crimes Command Center,,and told of how it is stocked with all the latest
computer equipment, and software...Their mission was described as 'battling child
pornography,bootleg software,and identity theft'......Notice how "identity theft"
has popped up in the news alot lately....it wont be long until they get control of
this last place where free speech goes on unfettered...........dddd

part two
Adler, a familiar face at County Council meetings when marijuana eradication issues are on the agenda, launched two failed campaigns for mayor and one for a County Council seat.

how much you wanna bet somebody on this County Council
got sick of hearing the truth
and decided to ruin this guys life?

irony
of course, there are no political prisioners in the US
