I asked George W. Bush a simple question—why is marijuana illegal?—and I never got an answer. Nor did I get a response to the same letter sent to Governor Bob Taft and Mayor Michael Coleman. Activists often contend that voters are ahead of politicians when it comes to drug policy reform. As this small experiment illustrates, from the White House to City Hall, the silence over the drug reform debate is deafening.
